Ryan argued with nurses and eventually had a conversation with the hospital administrator. It took Ryan nearly an hour convince the hospital to allow us in to visit Zane. Finally, they let us past the nurse’s station.

I couldn’t help my tears of anticipation and fear roll, as I trudged through the hospital following Ryan.

We hopped in the elevator and I felt the small room’s walls closing in on me. My breaths became labored. My head was spinning. Why am I visiting Zane?

Before I could begin to process my remorse for accompanying Ryan. The elevator chimed and opened to the second floor, and Ryan was dragging me down the hall to room 234.

Ryan turned to me and said one word. “Relax”

I gulped and nodded while Ryan nocked on the door.

Much to my surprise, my brother opened the door.

“Thank God you’re here!” He said pulling me into a bear hug he turned to Ryan and gave a bro  hug. “Thanks man!”

“You knew he was here?” I asked confused looking between Ryan and James.

“Where’s Zane?” I looked around the empty hospital room even more confused “Tell me what going on!”

“Zane is on his way. We will explain everything. I promise. You just have to trust me.”

“I’m serious James. Tell me! Is this an intervention or something?” I yelled getting frustrated with my confusion.

“Listen to me. Zane will explain everything! For now, I need you to do something. Call Tucker. He invited you to dinner at his house. Tell him you’re hungry for Greek food.”

“What? Why? The only Greek place is clear across down.” I looked at James with a dumb expression. This is random, since when does James plan dates for Tucker and I. I don’t even like Greek food that much.

Kyle spoke up “Just listen to him Des.”

“Okay, whatever” I pulled out my cell and dialed tucker. He answered on the first ring. Tucker offered to pick me up and take me to Greek food, but Kyle mouthed to ‘meet him there’

“Thank you!” James said looking slightly relived after I ended the call

He held out his hand

“Now let me see your phone.”

I handed  it over to James and he crushed it in his hand.

“No! What are you doing? Are you crazy?

James just gave me the look ‘will explain later’

That look was really pissing me off

“Can you at least tell me why we’re here?”

“It’s safe, for now.” James said letting his affectionate big bro side through.

Mathew joined us in the room. “It’s ready.” He nodded at Zane.

Mathew handed me a brunette wig and a hospital gown. “Put these on and hurry were running out of time.” I was past the point of asking questions so I put them on and got into the hospital bed as they asked.  Than a large team of nurses and doctors surrounded me. I feel a prick in my arm and there is an IV. I scream in fear and a nurse tells me its ok they are getting me to help. She than places an oxygen mask over my face. I feel myself being wheeled out of the room. Before I know it I’m strapped in a gurney on a helicopter. Zane holds my hand and wipes the tears off my frightened face.

“Shh it’s ok. Trust me okay. I will explain everything when we land.” I nod with the oxygen mask still attached to my face.

I slowly felt myself relax as Zane comforted me, and I drifted off into sleep.
