**PLEASE NOTE THAT ISABELLE IS STILL ALIVE**
{JORDAN}
It's March 15th, the air is crisp, although my body heat refuses to acknowledge it. I breathe in the cold hair and rub my hands together. Melissa is 28 and has just had her first child, Theresa Adele. I'm on my way to the hospital, a 40 year old married Trista arm and arm with her husband, Clary and Jace's son Bennett. Bennett holding James, their four year old, Trista holding Sophie's hand, their seven year old with bouncing brown curls.
When we finally reach the hospital, where I am greeted by a beautiful baby girl's shinning smile. "Oh, Trista. She has your mothers eyes," I note just loud enough for everyone to hear. I hold the fragile child in my arms, little Tessa. "How did you come up with the name?" I ask out loud.
"Well," Melissa starts "Clary once told me that if she ever had another girl, she would name her Theresa, Tessa for short. She said she knew a remarkable woman named Tessa, and wanted to honor her. So I thought, I should do it for her, since Clary never had the chance." Once she finishes, I kiss little Tessa on the forehead and beam at my granddaughter as she's passed from arms to arms.
"Papa," Sophie tugs at my jeans with her little arms "Do you miss Gammy?" Sophie asks, gleaming her bright blue eyes in my direction. I kneel down and lightly pull on her tight brown curl.
"Every day, Sophia. I miss your Grammy all day of every day." I smile softly at her, and proceed to hold my grandson, James. "Come here, Jem, my boy." I pull Jem into my arms and gaze at his fiery red hair. "Your eyes are so brown, they're almost black," I state out loud. "Speaking of where we got names, where did James, aka, Jem, come from?" I ask Trista and Bennett
"Well, Brother Zachariah delivered Jem, since it was a difficult birth. Brother Zachariah's original name was James Carstairs. He did want it to be obvious that we named our child after him, so we went with his original name. I heard he's actually with the 'remarkable woman' who is Tessa Gray. Like, with her, with her. They're married and everything." I nod, not needing the full story.
"I'm going to get some fresh air,"
"Dad, are you alright? You look kind of... Pale," Melissa asks. Or maybe it was Trista. After I heard the word pale.... Everything went white.
{TRISTA}
"According to the station, dad had a heart attack. Obviously we didn't let anyone at the hospital cheek him... His temperature would have been off the charts." Melissa chokes on the word dad, and attack. She's having trouble wrapping her head around the fact that she now has little family left. She's even thinking about finding her real parents.
"Thank you all for coming out today. We are all very happy to see some familiar faces at his funeral," I nod at Simon and Isabelle, knowing that they are here means a lot. Simon was Dad's best friend, they had gotten really close after Clary died. Simon lost his best friend, and now he's lost another.
I walk over to them, and stand silently for a second. "Um, so Bennett and I have a question for you two," I stand awkwardly, motioning for Bennett to come over with Sophie and Jem. "We... We wanted to know if you two would be Sophia and Jem's godparents," I ask quickly, biting my lip. I get that habit from my dad. I thought I had beat it but I guess all these memories of him... Brings it out. Isabelle bursts into tears, and pulls me in for a hug.
"Of course we will," she sobs in my shoulder. She releases me, and continues to cry into Simon's shoulder. He holds her gently, careful not to hurt her. There is no way he would turn this down knowing how much it means to Izzy. I feel bad for them, actually. All the mundanes here are probably assuming Simon is Isabelle's son. But everyone else knows better. They're soul mates.
I'm almost glad my dad is finally with his again.
