of hiding is to endanger her tree, and we just happen to be in the middle of a forest. I'm sure a nymph lives in one of these trees."

"Nice thinking Alex. So how are we going to 'endanger' her tree? You could poison one half of the forest while I light the rest on fire?"

"No!" Rowan said fiercely. "We are only trying to find one wood nymph not destroy an entire forest of helpless trees and possibly the homes of several nymphs."

“Aww, ok.” Emily sighed.

“Yeah, I was really hoping for mass destruction.” Alex added. "So how will we get the nymph's attention without actually harming her tree?"

“Well, we could..... summon George washington to cut down some trees.”

"I said we can’t hurt the trees!" Rowan said, frustrated.

“Fine.” Emily grumbled.

“Why don’t we just pull a leaf off?” Ella asked.

"Because then we wouldn't get to burn anything." Alex complained. "It takes all the fun out of it."

“THIS ISN’T ABOUT FUN! MY SISTER IS GETTING TURNED INTO A DOG!!!” Rowan screeched randomly.

"Well someone's not a morning person." Emily muttered.

“Sorry.” Rowan said after a moment of stunned silence. “I’m really not.”

"But she is right." Ella said. "This isn't just some fun adventure we all decided to go on this is a matter of life or death and possibly the fate of the all things good if Mali gets his hand on Rowan to so we cannot afford to waste time when we could be saving the world." Everyone was shocked into silence by Ella's uncharacteristically serious announcement. "Well, let's get going!"

“Uhh, yeah.” Rowan said, following Ella through the forest.

They stopped front of a large oak tree. From the way the wood was rotting and the branches were drooping it looked really old.

“So, do we just pull a leaf off?” Rowan asked.

“Not we, you.” Alex said.

“Yeah, some nymphs are very hostile when someone threatens their tree, and you never know if they will react aggressively.” Emily added.

“Why me then?” Rowan inquired.

“Better you than us.” Emily stated.

“Yeah, it would not be proper for us to get hurt! We are much more important than you.” Alex added.

“Plus, if we did it, then technically two people would be getting hurt instead of just one, so it is smarter for you to do it.” Emily continued, “I mean, what’s the point in two people being injured instead of just you? Especially if those two are us.”

“Evil dragon.” Rowan muttered. “You should try being a lawyer.”

“What?!” Alex gasped, seeming shocked.

“You are suggesting we... work?” Emily spat. “Why should two such amazing creatures have to waste time doing things we can get other people to do for us?”

"Oh of course not all powerful dragons. How could any expect such a magnificent creature to so much as lift a claw to aid others." Ella added sarcastically.

"See, someone gets it." Alex said ignoring Ella's mocking tone. “Now if you would just give us a moment to back up some before you pluck the leaf,  there, go ahead.”

Rowan rolled her eyes at the so called ‘powerful’ dragons hiding behind a rock. Emily caught her staring and called out “It’s not like we are hiding in fear or anything. But seeing as we are the the most important members of this group we need to insure our safety if this quest is to go on. So really, we are hiding for your benifit.”

“Whatever” Rowan mumbled , and then turned back to the tree.
