"Hey guys what's up? Ow I said stop that would you quit chasing me already!" Ella called out. She was running around a tree being chased by nymph who was repeatedly wacking her on the head with a stick. "I already said I was sorry I didn't know it was your tree so could I please go now!" Ella tried to fly away but the nymph grabbed her tail. "HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP!" Ella cried. Her friend rushed forwards. The nymph froze at the sight of a dragon, and Alex and Emily took the opportunity to show off their impressive claws and teeth. The nymph started to shake but kept a firm grip on Ella.
"What's going on here?" Rowan asked.
"Well I got bored this morning while I was waiting for everyone to wake up so I decided to go exploring and maybe I see if I could find a wood nymph myself and look I found her but this ones grouchy and mean." Ella said, sticking her tongue out at the nymph.
"Well um, thanks for finding her, I guess but, well, oh hang on." Rowan turned to the nymp. "I'm sorry she she bothered you so early. We really do have a good reason to be looking for a nymph. I'm Rowan, that's Alex and Emily, and you're holding Ella. Why don't you set her down and we can all talk." So the nymph gingerly set down Ella, who scampered behind Alex and Emily with a hiss.
"I... I'm Abby. What are you doing in my forest?" The nymph demanded.
"Its a long story. Alex, Emily, why don't you go get your breakfast and we'll tell Abby what' happened." And so as Emily and Alex flew of, Rowan started to tell Abby their entire tale from the beginning.
Several hours later, they all sat around a makeshift table and had lunch while Alex finished. "And that's why we need a leaf from a wood nymph's tree." Alex concluded. Abby shook her head. "You're all insane. How exactly do you plan on finding a mermaid. Or better yet, finding Malvazar and rescuing your sister without you all getting turned into dogs?"
"Hey, we already got the dragon tears and found you, so I figure we're about half way there." Ella argued. "So can we have the leaf or not?"
"I don't see why not considering you already took it from my tree. But do any of you know how to make tea?" Abby asked. Rowan and Ella shook their heads, and Alex said " Are you implying we would actually stoop so low as to make our own tea?" "We would always just have one of the younger dragons bring us some." Emily said.
"Well then it seems like you'll be needing me." Abby said.
"So you're coming with us to?" Ella said with obvious distaste.
"No." Abby said. "I'd much rather stay here in my forest away from annoying overly perky kittens."
"But you said we'd need you? Weren't you offering to help?" Rowan said in confusion.
"Here." Abby said, handing her a piece of bark with strange symbolic carvings. "When you need me to make the tea, burn it and bury the ashes. I will grow out if the ground to assist you. Until then, ta-ta." She said. And with that she sunk into the grass and disappeared.
"Well that was strange." Alex said.
"Very" Emily agreed.
Rowan held out the leaf and the bark. "Well what am I supposed to do with these until we need them?" Rowan asked.
"Here." Emily plucked them out of the air and tucked them under some scales. "They will be quite safe there." She said.
"Oh what would they do without us?" Alex said to her with a smug grin. "Now we should all get some rest. Tomorrow, we search for a mermaid."
