Gwen's POV

After a few hours of digging through all of the boxes, I had made quite a mess.

"Gwen, It's closing time. I have to lock up," Braiden yelled and I could already hear the familiar jingle of keys.

"Okay. I'll just clean up."

I started putting away all the CDs, and once I was done, I grabbed my backpack from behind the counter, and Braiden and I exited the store.

"It's getting pretty dark. Do you want me to walk you home?" he asked, but I shook my head.

"Well, Okay then. Bye Gwen." He kissed my forehead and started walking in the opposite direction in search of his car.

I decided to go and see if Connor hadn't gone home yet.

I walked a few feet until I was right in front of the store he works in.

I pushed the door open and, as soon as I stepped in, I heard someone playing guitar. There's no doubt it was Connor.

I followed the sound and it led me to the back room, where I had been earlier today.

I knocked on the door and then the music stopped.

"Thomas?"

"Nope," I replied and I could picture him with a smile on his face.

"Come in."

I took a step into the small space for the second time today, and there I saw Connor sitting down in the exact same place, holding the exact same guitar.

"Did you even move?" I asked, confused that he was still there. He looked the exact same as how I had left him.

"Yeah, I went on my lunch break a few minutes after you left."

"Are you planning on going home any time soon?" I asked and he checked his watch.

"Do you want to walk with me?"

I nodded in reply, but, to me, my nod felt a little bit too eager.

"Okay, just give me a few minutes to lock up," he said and so I exited the store and leaned against a nearby lamp post to wait for Connor.

Once he finally emerged from the store, he walked towards me and we started walking back home.

"Do you think you're going to sleep well tonight?" I asked, trying to escape from the awkward silence.

"I'm not sure. The question is, will I even fall asleep tonight?" he said and I had to agree with him. Insomnia gets very frustrating.

We finally reached the front of my door and he didn't even say bye or goodnight. he just left my side and entered his apartment.

We're finally trying to be nice, trying to be friends, but deep down I know that Connor will still be Connor and I'll still be myself.

I entered my apartment and I was greeted by silence. My sisters must've been asleep already.

I didn't feel tired at all. I was wide awake and it was a few minutes before midnight.

I grabbed my keys once again and exited my apartment.

I was about to walk over to the elevator, but for some reason my eyes wouldn't leave Connor's door.

I approached it slowly and, once I was close enough, I pressed my palm onto the cold wood of the door, before I knocked on it gently.

I heard some shuffling inside and a few muffled voices, then Connor opened the door.

"Gwen? What are you doing here?" he asked and I swallowed hard.

"I think you should know what has been causing my nightmares."
