Mateo’s POV

“This will do.” I grabbed the ice packet that was inside the staff’s refrigerator and head back.

While I was making my way to my trailer, I couldn’t help but hear Joaquin’s voice.

'He’s probably talking to Clifford.' I thought to myself.

“I better hurry up before he does anything weird again.” I sighed and started to speed up a bit.

When I finally got to my trailer I quickly head in as I forgot about Clifford’s hand.

But,

what is this I’m seeing?

“Come work for me Clifford. I don’t know how Mateo treats you but I guarantee it’ll be easier working for me.”

He was up to nothing good, I knew that already but..

A flash of fear and anger came rushing through my head, I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do.

'I should just leave' I told myself multiple times, 'I really should just leave!' my body didn’t have any intentions to work coordinately with my own words.

My whole body was different, a thousand of emotions were flowing through my head to toe.
Was I about to cry? No, it didn’t feel like it.

As I stood there, watching someone else getting physically closer to someone I couldn’t understand my feelings for, truly just one emotion grew larger then every single one.

I clenched my fist as tight as I have ever before and let my body do what it wants.

I was seeing red.

With a blink of an eye, I was on the ground, grabbing on Joaquin’s collar, A light pink shade appeared on his face the last time I looked at him. I wanted to do more, it wasn’t enough for my emotions to settle down.

I raised my arm again, a ball of fist ready to give him another shot.

“Go on Mateo, hit me again. Show yourself, did you actually think Clifford would find you anything more than a celebrity?” He chuckled as he was laying on the ground.

Why...?

Why was what he was saying seem so wrong but so true? Why couldn’t I say anything? Why couldn’t I do anything?

My fist was shaking mid-air, scared to move a muscle.

“Mr Valentino! Please that’s enough!”

Clifford, he was here the whole time? I stood up trying to get a hold of my feet.

“I-I wasn’t in my right mind, I’m sor-“

A fist was approaching my face, pain, pain was all I felt.

My vision slowly blurring out, I guess I can’t even take a single hit?

“You think I’d just let you do that? Get a taste of your own medicine dipshit... Sorry about the ruckus Clifford, think about it.” And with that he left.

“That asshole... Mr Valentino? Are you alright?!” Clifford immediately rushed to the ground, shaking me.

“Yeah... I’m fine.” I sat up while holding my cheek.

“Here," He grabbed the ice pack that was on the ground and started dabbing it against my injury. "You’ll definitely need this now more than me.”

“Thank you.. also uh-.. I’m sorry about earlier.. I didn’t know what I was doing.. I mean.. You can go work for him.. it’s- it’s fine..” I looked away.

“Is it really?” He smiled letting out a slight laugh

“What’s so funny?” I looked at him confused.

“Your cousin seems so similar yet so different from you.” He chuckled. “Although both of you are childish and spoiled.” He added.

“Hey! You were doing alright at first!”

We laughed together this time.

For some reason, I loved this moment, I wanted more. But I knew, there was a line I could never cross.

“Mr. Granché wasn’t right about everything he said.”

“Huh?” I looked over to Clifford.

“Why would he know if I only see you as a celebrity?” He said while patting my cheek.

Is he trying to say what I think he’s trying to say...?

He looked at me differently....

Way differently. I don’t think I’ll be able to control myself.

“Let me ask you Mateo, what if I also had feelings for you?”
