"The Shirogane House"

Shiro yawns from the exhaust the lack of sleep he had last night. Katie, his 7 month old daughter, was crying all night because she caught a cold. In one hand, Shiro is holding Katie and with the other he's cooking up breakfast for his 4 other kids: Lance, Keith, Hunk, and Matt who are getting ready for their first day of school.

Katie lightly sneezes causing Shiro to smile, "Bless you little one." He tells her. "D...d" Katie attempts to say dad but stops mid-way. "Aw, you almost got it sunshine."

"DAD!" Keith storms in the kitchen. "Can you tell Lance to get out of the bathroom?! He started playing music and he's been in there for a good 30 minutes." Shiro turns off the stove then gives Katie to Keith. He walks out the kitchen and heads upstairs. Keith follows with Katie in his arms. As they get closer to the bathroom the music and the horrible singing gets louder. Shiro slams the bathroom door open, walks in, then turns off the music. "Keith what the fuck?!" Lance yells before he peeks his head out. "Watch your fucking language, and get the fuck out or I'll drag you out myself. This happens everyday for school learn how to use your time wisely for yourself and others." Shiro clocks back before leaving the bathroom.

Keith hands Katie back to Shiro, "Thanks dad." Keith thanks him. "Yeah, just get ready by 7:30." Shiro tells him before Keith goes back to the bathroom door to wait. "I might as well check up on Matt and Hunk to see if they are awake." Shiro thought before heading to Matt's room first.

Shiro peeps his head in and was surprised to see Matt already dressed and on his phone playing some type of game. "Oh you're up already...and fully dressed wow." Shiro said. Matt looks up to see who's talking then goes back to playing on his phone. Shiro adopted Matt and Katie 6 months ago because their mom unfortunately passed away, and their dad gave up and left them. Before his dad left, he had gave his kids to Shiro because they were good friends and Shiro was a good dad to his other kids.

Shiro clears his throat awkwardly, "So um, would you like any breakfast downstairs? I made bacon, french toast, and regular toast because Lance doesn't like french toast. I also made eggs scrambled and a few sunny-side, sausages, cut up some fruit, and I also made potatoes and veggies in a pan just in case you want a healthy option." Matt looks at Shiro hysterically, "Where do you find the time to make us a buffet?" Shiro half-smiled which turned into a soft chuckle, "Well, I just wanted to cook something nice while you kids head off to school for the first time in a couple of months." Matt rolled his eyes then heads downstairs.

Shiro sighs, "Only if he can understand.." Katie looks at Shiro with an unsure face and Shiro smiles. "You are so adorable Katie. Now let's go check on Hunk."

Shiro walks to the room next to Matt's and knocks on the door. The door creek open then Shiro peeps in. "Hunk?" Shiro flicks the light switch on and Hunk was still sleep in his bed.

Shiro adopted Hunk after he adopted Lance. Even though Hunk have been in the house more than a year, he's not used to the environment and the trauma that was left in his old house and family.

Shiro goes up to the bed the sets Katie down on the carpet. Shiro shakes Hunk until he wakes up. "Stayed up last night huh?" Shiro asks. "Maybe.." Hunk softly said before sitting up. "Well get ready in 10 minutes, so you have time to eat and we can leave." Hunk sighs and gets up.

Shiro picks Katie back up and heads downstairs towards the dining room. Lance was done with his 3rd plate of food and is about to get a 4th plate, Keith is half way done with his food, and Matt is eating a bowl of cereal. Shiro frowns. "Are you serious Matt?" Matt looks up and rolls his eyes, "What old man?" Matt snaps. Shiro rushes over and puts Katie in her tall chair then snatches the bowl of cereal away from Matt. "I literally spent hours cooking you kids breakfast and you have the nerve to eat a bowl of cereal." Matt smirks, "Oh is the old man getting mad now?" Lance leans in towards Matt to whisper, "Dude chill that's our dad." Matt rolled his eyes again and looks at Shiro for a reaction, "Well he's not a father figure to me. Shiro is not even my fucking dad from birth! He's just some old hack who took me and my sister away from my real one." Everyone stops eating and grew silent waiting for what's going to happen next. "He doesn't understand do he?" Shiro thought to himself, "His dad isn't the person to be taking care of them when he was-" "See how quiet he is?" Matt interrupts Shiro's train of thought. "This man is not a father to anyone of us why are we even here?!" Matt tries to rally against him. Shiro sighs, "I can't listen to this anymore..."
"Dude, not cool..." Keith said out loud as everyone around him agrees with him.

Shiro throws away the cereal and heads to the front door to step outside for a moment. He takes out a cigarette from his pocket. Shiro puts one end in his mouth and lights it up until the smoke enters his mouth. He inhales the smoke just to puff it back out. Shiro does that a couple times until he's much calmer then puts out the blunt.

Suddenly a series of hard coughs escapes from Shiro's mouth and a splatter of blood comes out with it. "Fuck my chest..." Shiro grips onto it until the pain lessens down then heads back into the house.
