I'm ten years old and I just got a letter that I had sent returned to me. The person it was intended for moved away.
It was a letter meant for Claire. I've been sending her letters ever since she's been gone. She replies to them sometimes. Not all the time but that's okay. She's in college and Mom says that it keeps people busy. I get why she doesn't always have time to answers my letters. I don't write to her to get an answer, I just write to her to have someone, anyone that will listen to me. My parents don't really care about my problems and I don't have any friends at school. People call me a loser. Some kids even still call me a liar because I said Claire was my girlfriend.
It was nice, knowing that at least one person out there cared about what happened to me.
Apparently there's no one now.
I'm always the one picking up the mail so Mom and Dad don't know about it. I could go ask Claire's mom her new address but I've been shunned at school enough to know what this means. Claire doesn't care about me. She didn't give me a new address because she doesn't want to get letters from me anymore.
I'm an annoying loser to her too.
I try not to let it get to me, but it really hurts.
