richie left after that, and eddie sat on his bed, smiling. richie had agreed to go on a date with him!

er, well, he probably considered it a friend thing since he had a girlfriend.

eddie wanted to relax a bit before getting icecream, so he pulled out his light blue earphones.

he sighed in relief, knowing his mother didn't take them away. his thoughts trailed to the past.

"eddie bear! don't wear those sick things! they'll damage your ears! do you want to be deaf?!" sonia screamed, piercing eddie's ears.

"n-no mommy..." eddie stuttered out, a tear was trickling down his cheek. all he wanted was a pair of earbuds, but his mother got them kicked out of the store.

though, he had a plan. he was very hesitant about it, though. he definitely didn't want to be caught by sonia, let's just say it wouldn't end well.

so, they went into another store, and when eddie convinced his mother he didn't need to go into the stall with her, he went over to the earphones.

he took some light blue ones off the shelf and stuffed them into his pocket. he chose light blue because it reminded him of the sky. the employees didn't care enough to check the cameras, and no customers saw him.

when his mother got out of the bathroom, they looked around the store. his mother ultimately decided nothing here was "fitting" for eddie.

when eddie got home, he immediately stuffed the earphones under his bed, getting a rush of rebelliousness. (is that even a word?)

he put the earphones into his ears, feeling a bit guilty while he began scrolling through his playlist. ah, yes, come on, eileen, his favorite. although he didn't know what it was about, it was catchy.

he laid down, closing his eyes, falling asleep to the sound of his favorite song.

he woke up, checking his phone. 6:45, shit, richie would be here soon!

he quickly changed into a pair of jeans and a pink shirt. he pulled on a sweatshirt over it, a white one. he combed through his hair and-
