richie yanked his phone off the nightstand to call eddie. his long, skinny fingers swiped against the screen. he hit the call button.

a scratchy voice laced with sleep accepted the call, obviously very tired.

"rich, what're you doing? it's four in the morning." the small boy asked.

"can you come over to beverly's house now?" the lanky boy replied, ignoring the question.

"richie, are you crazy?!?! my mom would kill me!" eddie whisper-yelled.

"sneak out, she won't figure out you're here, come back before she wakes you up, which is seven, correct?" the boy asked, twirling his hair with one finger.

there was silence for a while, then eddie sighed, "fine, but if my mom catches me, i will murder you."

richie chuckled, "you can try, eds."

"don't cal-" eddie started, but was interrupted by the ending of the phone call. he rolled his eyes.

richie waited around for a bit before he saw eddie at beverly's door, shivering in the rain that had just come out of nowhere. he speedily ran downstairs to answer the door.

he held out his hand and the soaked, freezing boy didn't hesitate to take it. richie pulled him inside, closing the door. richie pulled him over to a stack of conveniently placed blankets. he swiftly wrapped the blanket around eddie as he laid against the coach.

"why'd you want me to come over right now?" eddie inquired, a soft look on his face.

"oh, because i wanted to take my mind off of a bad dream," richie replied nonchalantly, before thinking it sounded like he was using eddie and added, "and because i wanted to see your adorable face."

eddie blushed before turning his expression into a serious one. "what was your dream about?"

"oh- uh.." he paused, gulping. "well you see, you were uh.. you said you would never like someone like me and that i was disgusting and pathetic.. and then i.. i uh, i went home and um, i-" he couldn't finish his sentence because he suddenly burst into tears. eddie immediately comforted him, wrapping his arms around his sides into a loose hug. richie hugged back, but barely.

after multiple sniffles, richie stopped crying. eddie cuddled him and richie gladly accepted the gesture. they laid there for a while before falling asleep peacefully.
