Chapter Thirty Four

January '87

San's POV

These months haven't been the easiest. Vinny's gotten a bit worse and I'm afraid he's not going to get any better. Lucy has been a bit hard on herself since she is constantly picked on at school. It's just hard to see them this way. I didn't know how much it really bothered them until they told me the odd time. I felt bad for my children often since they were victims of bullying. On a good note, my baby turned ten this weekend. Gosh I feel so old. I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday. I was so proud of him. He wasn't really excited because he told me didn't have a lot a friends. I said it didn't matter because we'd be here to celebrate it with him which we did. He ended up having fun. Marlon and Little Sonny were enjoying university and parenthood. Their teachers loved little Atticus which was a good thing. They wanted to be independent with him, so Sonny and I only watch him the odd day. We didn't mind. We were still preparing ourselves for Vinny's baby. He wasn't in the right mindset to have one, but I promised the kids I'd help them out once he or she was born. They appreciated our offer and accepted it. I didn't mind since I knew they weren't gonna be able to do it. 

This month brought joy to us. Marlon and Little Sonny were finally getting married. They don't want a big ceremony. Just close family and friends is all they want. I didn't mind since I hated huge crowds. My wedding wasn't as small as I wanted it, but dad and Vito threw it for us and it was an Italian wedding that's for sure. I think the guest list was under one hundred people, but I'm not too sure. She's so excited for her big day. Mama, Connie, Kay, Deanna, and I have been helping her out with the dress. Mama is making her dress which she made mine as well. However mine was made for a six month pregnant lady. She's thinner than her mother was at her age. I was excited for her. It gave me a little bit of peace. I see Em in her everyday, and this day is as special to me as it is to her. It's like seeing Em marry her true love. Marlon and Little Sonny love each other so much. Almost reminds me of Sonny and I or even Freddie and Em. It was gonna be a great thing, and before we knew it they were gonna have more little Marble's and Little Sonny's rolling around here. I knew they were getting excited since they were able to move into Tom's old place after the wedding. They were happy to start their lives together. George and I released our song, I Knew You Were Waiting. It's a hit so far on the charts and we're so proud. 

Today was Wednesday. It was a long day. Vinny and the twins were home. The rest of them were at school as far as I know. The younger ones I knew were, but the older ones sometimes it was hard to tell. Sonny and I were relaxing in the living room while the twins and Vinny were down in the basement. So that made Sonny think we could do anything. Tom was upstairs asleep in our bedroom since he didn't feel well and Freddie was out with Dom. Sonny was laying with me. He was laying on my stomach a bit. "So San, did you wanna do something before the kids came home?" "Yes." He looked at me. "What?" He smiled. "You usually take more convincing than that."
