Sonny's POV
Three Years Later
These last three years haven't been the easiest, but they haven't been the worst. My wife has recovered from her breast cancer. She beat it in late eighty eight. I recovered well from my heart issue and Caroline was much better from her surgeries. My wife and I's relationship has been better than ever. We celebrated our twenty first anniversary last year. Now onto our twenty second this year. Since then Lucy had her twins Lorenzo and Delilah, Marlon and Little Sonny had their second child Clarice, and Sophia was pregnant with her second child. She and Lucy just turned seventeen. My girls were almost adults. Sophia and Tom's relationship has blossomed as well. They got married last summer. She was happier than ever. Now they're expecting kid number two. I've never seen them more happier. Another good thing to come out of these three years was Vinny had been sober for this long. I was very proud of my son. So was Santina, who herself has been sober for three long years as well. We were very proud parents.
The kids are all in their teens, all except for Marlon. Our eldest boy is no longer a little boy. He's now twenty two. Time flies when you're growing older. I remember when that kid was four and just worried about Sesame Street. Now he's got a four year old who worries about Sesame Street and what kind of cereal his dad is gonna buy. Marlon and Little Sonny have finished their schooling and are now working full time. My son is a doctor and my little girl is a science teacher. Vinny has become successful as well. He's got his own art exhibit and is also becoming an astrophysicist. He has shows all the time and is making quite the amount of dough Santina says. The twins were going to graduate high school next year and going to college themselves. Lucy is studying fashion and Sophia is studying photography. My Sweet Caroline however is in ninth grade and Rafi isn't really a baby anymore, he's in seventh grade. Like I said all of our babies aren't babies anymore. Our grand babies were growing too. Leo and Lucas are three and the twins are two. They were all their own little characters who we loved so much.
Today we were home with the grandchildren since everyone was either at work or school. Sometimes Vinny brings Leo into work with him. When the days are long ones he leaves him here with us. We don't mind since we love him. San was still kicking it around with Freddie and C. C has improved a bit but not by much. She still keeps him hanging around. I have yet to figure it out myself but I will eventually. Tom and I were in the living room with the kids. It was a quiet day. For now it was anyways. Santina was out with her father and Freddie. He was getting some kind of treatment. His health had declined a bit more as his band became more of a success.
"Poppa 'Renzo hurted me." Leo said as he came over. "Lorenzo what did poppa tell you bout hitting your cousins?" "Not to Poppa. I sorry." I looked at him. "Say you're sorry to Leo." He came over and gave him a hug. "I sorry Leo. I love you." Leo hugged him back. "Okay we go play now." "Yeah go play now. Poppa's tryna watch something." They went back to their spot. Then Lucas came over to see Tom. "Daddy I don't wanna play with them." Tom picked him up. "Why not?" "'Lilah was throwing blocks at me and 'Renzo was laughing at me. They hurted my feelin's daddy." He sighed. "Okay sit with me and Poppa." He sat on Tom's lap. I had to give the other kids trouble. Lorenzo and Delilah were little shits someday's. "Lorenzo and Delilah come see Poppa." They came over. Lorenzo and Delilah were a little slow because of Lucy's drug use during her pregnancy. She claims that's not why, but the doctor's tell her that all the time. "Yes Poppa?" He said. Delilah wasn't much of a talker. "What did I tell yous about being mean?" "You tell me and Lilah no mean." "That's right, so why are you being mean to Lucas and Leo?""Did not mean to Poppa. I no mean it." Delilah looked at me. She had that sad puppy dog look just like her mother. "What about you missy?" "Poppa I don't. I mean no." "Delilah you're not supposed to be mean to them." "I sorry." I sighed as the front door opened. "Leo, daddy's home." He got excited and ran to meet his father. "Go clean up and Poppa will put a cartoon on." They listened to me and cleaned up. I turned the channel for them. I then got up.
