Shelter in place drills

I hate how shelter in place drills are needed

I get it, we need the drills to save ourselves if something were to happen

But I hate that something might happen

I had a shelter in place drill today, and I was scared. I hate the drills because they are needed.

People might want to hurt us because of their pent up anger, and it terrifies me that it might happen to me.

I might have to call my mom and say, I don't know if I will make it out alive, but I love you.

I might have to do that one day, people have to day that every day, and they don't deserve to have that happen to them. They deserve every bit of their lives, yet their lives are forcibly taken away because someone isn't  good with feelings, or they aren't religious.

People want to have an output on the world, so they hurt and kill and scar.

Instead of helping the world, they believe that the only way for them to make a difference is to do something big and loud and scary. 

People deal with that all the time and that is scary.

The people who aren't damaged think, oh, another school shooting, but to the people who were hut, it was the school shooting that hurt them.

People will Never understand the struggle and the pain that the families and victims went through, but they don't even try
