26 - Revelations

Eli's POV

I have been standing here talking to Frankie's father and never realised it.

I'm such an idiot. How could I not see the resemblance? They have the same eyes and the same smile. It's so obvious.

"I'm sorry sir, I only just put two and two together. You're Frankie's dad."

"Sure am. But you can call me Sam."

I shake his hand willingly and laugh a little at the pedicament.

"I'm sorry I didn't recognise you at first. It sure has been a while." I say nervously.

"Don't worry about it. Frankie talks about you all the time so it made it kind of easy for me."

My eyes widen as he mentions Frankie talking about me and I can't help but press my luck.

"Frankie talks about me to you?"

"Yep. I call her every week and every time the conversation always shifts to you. I'm glad that you two came here together but my question is when either of you are going to come out and tell me."

"Tell you what?"

"That youre dating. I'm not stupid. A guy and a girl living together: things happen. Not to mention when the girl already has a crush on the guy. Why not just make it official and get it out in the open? I don't think Marco would mind." Sam says with a wink and a smile.

I don't know what to say right now. I am stunned at this revelation and shocked that Frankie talks about me to her father at all. Let alone makes it seem like she is into me.

Almost as if she heard her name being mentioned, Frankie appears and gives her dad a peck on the cheek.

"What are you two talking about? You remember my dad, don't you Eli?" she says casually.

I try to speak but the words won't come out.

"We were talking about you two actually." Sam says to his daughter.

Frankie's eyes widen as worry sets in and she looks to me for confirmation.

"Your father was wondering when we were going to be officially dating." I say finally finding my voice.

Frankie's face goes red but she still manages to try and dig herself out of this hole she is in.

"Eli and I aren't dating dad. We are just two friends living together."

Sam gives her an unconvinced look amd she redden even further. I can't help but wonder if that shade of crimson on her cheeks reaches to every inch of her body.

I snap out of my day dream and decide to help Frankie out.

"That's right. Frankie is already dating a nice guy called Colt." I blirt hoping to help but the evil look she gives me tells me that I put my foot in it.

"Who the hell is colt?" Sam asks Frankie as she stares at the ground.

"It's only a new relationship. I didn't want to tell you about him until I knew it was going somewhere." She says just above a whisper whilst staring at the floor.

I begin to feel uneasy in this situation and know I should excuse myself. But how? Luckily Sam does it for me.

"I think you and I should have a talk, Frankie. Good seeing you again, Eli." Sam says as he ushers his daughter out of the marquee.

I watch as they go and know that I just fucked up.
