"Slytherin!" Even though the hat yells it louder than it did for anyone else, only the green-robed witch hears. Nobody from my new house notices, so nobody makes room at the table for me. I just stand near the table I'm supposed to be sitting at. A wizard with all black attire and matching hair walks over to me.
"I'm Professor Snape, head of Slytherin. I'm sorry nobody is welcoming you. There are a few older Hufflepuff students waiting for you outside the hall, they'll take you until I can talk to the rest of Slytherin." He says in a low whisper. I guess a few people heard. I only nod as tears threaten to fall. I slip out of the Great Hall while Professor Snape heads back to his seat.
"Oh, Bells. I'm so so so sorry your first night here and your sorting was a bust. You can stay with us for now. Snape had your messenger back and kitten taken to my dorm for the night. Let's go to the kitchens to get some food before we head to the Hufflepuff rooms." Laila says as the four Hufflepuffs I befriended on the train hug me. I let the tears fall now and cry into Sarah's shoulder. My hair turns an almost grey shade of light purple.
"You know," Greyson starts after we walk for some time, "Purple doesn't exactly match green. Try making your hair like a green or blue that might match your new robe colours."
I look down and notice my robes have magically changed to match the rest of the Slytherins' robes. I laugh.
"There it is. You did it Greyson." Laila laughs. "You brought back her smile."
"And here we are; the Hogwarts kitchens," Cedric announces.
"Um, Ced. I only see a painting of a fruit bowl." I say.
"Watch this." Cedric tickles the only pear in the painting and it swings open like a door. We walk through and I see a sprawling kitchen run by house elves.
"Hello, Masters Cedric and Greyson and Mistresses Sarah and Laila. What can Twinky do for you? shouldn't you be at the welcome feast?" A small house elf speaks.
"We left early because our friend, Bells, here was ignored by her new house so we left," Sarah explains.
"Do you think you could bring us a lot of chocolate desserts? Unless you don't like chocolate Bells." Laila requests.
"No, I love chocolate," I reply. We go and sit at a table and Twinky and five other bring us various chocolate cakes, puddings, cookies, and such. as we eat, I'll tell my four friends what the hat said about my heritage. They ask about my mom and explain how the Fudge family is the last descendants of Helga Hufflepuff, the founder of Hufflepuff house. As for my connections to Slytherin, they have no ideas. We eat for what seems like an hour before we say goodbye to the house elves.
"Everyone should still be in the Great Hall, So we should be okay getting you in Bells," Greyson says as we walk a little way down the hall and stop in front of a bunch of barrels.
"Okay, so in order to get into the Hufflepuff common room, you have to tap out a pattern on these barrels. Even though people outside of Hufflepuff aren't supposed to know the pattern, your one of Helga's descendants so you have every right to know." Cedric states. He shows me the pattern on the second barrel, in the middle of the second to bottom row of barrels. We enter the doorway that appears. A tunnel leads to a low-ceilinged room decorated with a multitude of different plants.
"Come one, we'll go to my dorm." Says Laila. "sorry boys, but you can't come. You know the rules. Say good night."
"Good night." We all say to each other. Before Laila, Sarah and I go to Laila's dorm, we all do a group hug.
"So there's an extra bed for you to use for tonight, right next to mine. Here are some pyjamas for you to borrow. The bathroom is right through that door." Laila says as her and I step into her dorm. Sarah went to her own door after saying good night. I take Laila's extra clothes and change out of my uniform. I walk out of the bathroom wearing the large jumper and leggings and see Laila and three other girls talking. Laila is already in her own set of pyjamas.
"So Bells these are my roommates; Beatrice Montgomery, Helena Green, and Jane Kent. Girls this is Rosabella Potter. She's spending the night with us because her own house didn't even acknowledge her." Laila introduces.
"Hey, I'm Bea. Sorry about your house. Just know you're always welcome here." A tiny silver-haired girl with brown doe eyes says.
"Thanks. It's nice to meet you all." I say. The other girls get ready for bed and then we turn out the lights.
