Beep, beep, beep
My alarm goes off at four, and I quickly shut it off before I wake the other girls. Why am I up this early? Oh yeah, running with Oliver. I change into a pair of black running shorts, a matching hoodie, and my mint trainers. I make my hair a shoulder length and a light brown. I quickly rush out of the Slytherin rooms and down to the locker rooms to meet Oliver, throwing my hair into a ponytail on my way. I make it right on time and Oliver arrives at the same time. The sky is still dark.
"Almost thought I was going to be late." The fourth-year boy says.
"Same here." I laugh "Ready?"
"Let's go." We take off towards the lake, matching our steps and pace to the other. Watching the sunrise as we run is pretty magical. I start to hum as we run along.
"What song are you humming, it sounds familiar."
"Blackbird. It's a muggle song."
"Ah, my mum used to sing me that song."
"My auntie did the same for me."
"Mind singing it for me?"
I started to sing as we ran.
"Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise. Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these sunken eyes and learn to see. All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to be free." By the time I reach the chorus, Oliver has joined me. We continue to run and share our favourite songs as we run along the same path I ran yesterday. We eventually head back to get ready for breakfast.
"You have a really nice voice, Rosabella," Oliver says.
"Thanks, you too. I'll see you later?" I ask.
"Since nobody has the pitch later, do you want to fly around?" Oliver responds.
"Yeah. I'd love to. See you after dinner?"
"Sure." We head to our own houses. I make it back to my dorm by six to find the others still sleeping.
"WAKE UP!" I yell as loud as possible. After seeing the others almost be late yesterday, I decide to start waking them up earlier. At the sound of my voice, the three girls jump up.
"What the hell, Bella?" Pansy whines.
"You guys complained about not having enough time so I woke you guys up an hour earlier," I say. Daphne and Millicent get ready with little complaint, but Pansy has said words that would make a sailor blush. She's still in a bad mood two hours later at breakfast. I change into my uniform and race down to the Great Hall at 7:30 to warn the boys about Pansy.
"Good morning." The boys greet as I sit down with them.
"Not really, I may have woke up Pansy an hour early and now she's really mad, so fair warning," I say and eat some french toast. It's good but not as good as Ruby's. As I eat I write out letters to Auntie, Dudley, Uncle Neil, and Carson.
Classes pass just the same as the past couple of days; borning, better than muggle classes, but still boring. For once I kept the same look all day here; the short, light brown I had this morning. After dinner, I meet Oliver on the pitch with my new broom.
"WOW! Nice broom, Harry has the same one." Oliver greets.
"I know. Mines better 'cause it's black and green though. My uncle Neil had it custom made for me. want to try it?" I reply.
"Yeah!" We trade our brooms and take off. We fly around for a good ten minutes before trading back to our own brooms and flying over the lake.
"Wooh!" I'm flying how most people fly and reach down to spray water at Oliver. A good amount hits him, drenching his robes.
"Hey!" Suddenly I'm soaked as well.
"Guess we should head back to dry off." We fly back to the castle, joking around as we trail water through the halls.
"See you tomorrow morning." I wave before going to the dungeons. "Pure-blood." The common room door opens.
"Where were you?" A voice says before I can enter. I turn and see who was talking.
"Hey, guys." It was my five friends from Hufflepuff; Cedric, Greyson, Justin, Laila, and Sarah. Sarah was the one who stopped me.
"Well?"
"I was out on the pitch flying with Oliver."
"Oliver Wood?" It was Cedric.
"Yeah."
"Ok. We wanted to see how you were doing."
"I'm fine, but I have a bunch of homework to do."
"We'll see you then."
"Bye." We all say. I step into the common room finally and see my Slytherin friends there. I sit down with them and help with their homework.
Weeks pass in the same fashion; running, classes, homework, flying, with a troll break-in on Halloween. Finally, it's the day of the first Quidditch match, Gryffindor vs. Slytherin. I'm so nervous at breakfast that I only choke down an apple. I get dressed, grab my broom, and meet the rest of the team at the pitch. We are standing off to the side, while the stands fill with students, most of whom are supporting Gryffindor.
"Ready team?!" Flint decides now is pep talk time. A roar comes from the other five boys, I join in but a little quieter than them.
"I said ARE YOU READY?!!" An even louder roar, all seven of us yelling at the top of our lungs. "Let's go!" We get ready to fly out onto the pitch.
"And here comes the Slytherins! Captain Marcus Flint, Chasers Adrian Pucey and Gram Montague, Beaters Chester Avery and Randall Bonin, Keeper Miles Bletchley, and their new Seeker and only girl, put your hands together for Rosabella Potter! Rumour has it she can fly standing!" The Gryffindor student who was commenting on the game said. "Flint and Wood shake hands and off goes the quaffle. It's Angelina Jonhson's, who passes it to Katie Bell, who passes it back, only for it to be stolen by Flint." The comments go on, most bias toward Gryffindor, but I turn them out and look for the snitch.
I catch a glimpse of gold flying by the teacher and guest stands and fly that way standing on my broom as I go. I see Harry follow me as I fly, so I stop short and go a different way.
I finally see the snitch and sit normally to fly after it faster. When I'm within reach, I stretch my arm out, using my powers to make it an inch or two longer. Just as my fingers close around the golden ball, something hits me right in the ribcage, and then the head right after. The last thing I see is the sitch slip between my fingers and my broom fall with me towards the ground. Then everything goes black.
