After talking with Flint, I wait in the hall for the last class to end, so I can talk to Quirrell. Once the older kids stream out of the room I step in.
"Professor? You wanted to see me?" I ask.
"Ah, yes. Close the door, please." His stutter is gone.
"What did you want to show me?"
"Well, first let me tell you a story. When your birth father was defeated by Harry, his body died, but his soul remained. I currently have his soul. He wishes to speak with you." Quirrell unwraps his turban as he speaks. On the back of Quirrell's bald head is another face.
"Father?" I say softly.
"Ah, my darling Bella. How great it is to see my beautiful daughter again." The face, my father, says, his voice raspy and strained. "I do not have a lot of energy, but I just want to say how proud I am and your mother would have been. We both had so much hope for you to grow up in a world better than the one you got. I see your metamorphmagus powers have strengthened. I remember when you were just a day old and your hair would change between my brown hair and your mother's golden-blonde. I must rest now, but please remember how much I love you still. I'll have enough strength to talk again next week. I'll see you then and I love you."
"I love you too dad. Goodbye." I feel tears of joy fill my eyes at being around my father again. I walk out of the room and to the Great Hall to meet with my Hufflepuff friends. I'm still not sure about being with the Slytherins.
I spot Cedric, who is quickly becoming my closest friend when a voice calls my name. It's Draco.
"What do want?" I snap, my good mood deteriorating.
"Look, I'm so, so, so, so, so sorry about ignoring you for your brother and not paying attention to your sorting when I know you were probably cheering the loudest for me. What can I do to make it up to you?" Draco says.
"Just please never choose my brother over me and never leave me," I say hoarsely, my eyes brimming with tears again.
"I promise." Draco hugs me. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Cedric walking towards us.
"Hey, Ced. This is Draco, Draco this is Cedric." I introduce, my eyes still stinging.
"You. Did you make her cry?" Cedric's voice is deadly, his eyes narrowed as he notices the tears still left on my checks.
"Ced, I'm okay. These are happy tears. Quirrell was a friend of my birth father's and had given me some pictures of my parents. I'm fine."
"Okay. How was your first day of classes?" Cedric puts an arm around and steers me away from Draco.
"I'll talk to you later Draco." I wave and walk with Cedric. "They were good. McGonagall made me the Slytherin seeker after seeing me fly."
"I'm so proud. You know, I'm the seeker for Hufflepuff. I could help if you want."
"And give me an advantage over you? You really are a Hufflepuff, you're ridiculously kind."
"Well, can't help it, better just accept it."
"Might as well."
"What are you going to do about a broom?" Cedric changes the subject.
"No idea. I need to talk to Snape. I'm hungry from skipping lunch so walk a little faster." I start pushing Cedric towards the Hufflepuff table.
"Okay, okay I'm going." We join the other three of our friend group.
"Finally you guys are here," Laila says as I sit next to her.
