Blake and I drove in silence for part of the trip, followed by some country music. I was right, he was from the south, Kentucky to be exact. His accent was adorable, and his voice not half bad. Kind of deep and scruffy, but he was completely tone deaf. So we spent the time butchering classic country songs. I passed out for a total of five minutes before a loud annoying ring that I had never heard before. My eyes shot open and I looked down at the illuminated screen at Harry’s name flashing across it. He must’ve stolen my phone and changed the ring. Note to self: never leave your phone alone with Harry again. I hit the ignore button and sighed.

Blake looked over me, “So am I in the middle of a lovers’ quarrel or something?”

I scoffed, “A lovers’ quarrel? Absolutely not. I can’t even believe what he said to you. He’s just…”

“Proving a point.”

I scrunched my eyebrows, “Proving a point?”

“Yeah, marking his territory so to speak.”

“Blake, I like you, but that’s insane.” I pulled my knees to my chest.

“It’s really not,” he chuckled, “He likes you. It’s pretty clear…don’t tell me that you haven’t figured it out?”

I rolled my eyes smiling and turned my head to face him, “I think we’ve had just about enough Harry talk for now.”

“Alright, fair enough. What would you rather talk about?”

I crinkled my forehead thinking, “Did the people who had this position before me hangout with you guys?”

“You mean, were they as buddy buddy with the guys as you are?” Blake chuckled.

I nodded nervously, “Yeah. Yeah I guess that’s what I’m asking. Am I abnormal here? Cause everyone seems to think that all I’m here for is to sleep with them, and I just wonder what the girls before me were like.”

“Well right before you was Lillian. I don’t think that she ever spoke to anyone unless she was required. Come to think of it, I’m not really sure why she took this job. So I don’t know where or how she travelled. Anyway, she wasn’t here for long. She only lasted a month and a half.”

I nodded, “Yeah, she quit after they took an impromptu trip to see me for some stupid cotillion thing.”

“Oh yes, I think I remember hearing about that one.”

I nodded smiling slightly at the memory of that night, “So what about before Lillian?”

“Before Lillian was Kasey.” My body froze at the mention of the name. I guess subconsciously I was trying to find out more information about Kasey, but the mention of her name somehow put me on edge.

“And…what was she like?” I tried my best to sound nonchalant.
