DAWN'S POV
"Dawn Bowie, we killed your father. The Godfather is dead." I hung up the phone and ran out of the building. I was bawling my eyes out. I got into my car and drove home as quick as I could. As I was driving, I rolled a joint and smoked it. I pulled into my driveway and ran into the house.
"Dad? Dad?" I ran around frantically. I ran up to his office and kicked open the door to see him sitting there in his chair, with Sam and Jimmy. "What? I got a call saying that they killed you. What?" They all burst out laughing.
"It was a prank! He thought it would be funny." Jimmy said, pointing at my father.
"Fuck you." I walked out of the office and into my room, slamming the door. I locked it and blared my records, getting high.
JIMMY'S POV
As soon as Dawn left, I turned to look at her father. "So, Don Bowie, I'm here to ask you for your daughter's hand in marriage. I really care about her and I love her with all my heart. She deserves the world and I want to make sure she gets it."
"Yes, James, I give you my daughter's hand in marriage. You may ask her tonight at dinner. We will invite the whole family." I nodded as her father spoke. Later that night, I told Dawn her dad was having a big family dinner so she had to dress nicely. She was dressed in a nice red, tight dress with her heels. She never wore heels so it was nice to see her so dressed up. We were all sat at the table. Everyone was here. Me, Dawn, and her father, obviously. Dawn's Godparents, Sam was here, Dawn's step brothers and sisters. A lot of family members. I was nervous as shit.
DAWN'S POV
During this dinner, Jimmy kept looking at me weird. I wondered what was going on with him. As we finished dinner and had some wine, dessert was served. We finished dessert and drank more wine. Jimmy stood up and looked at me, then around to everyone. "I have something I'd like to say." Everyone turned their attention to Jimmy. "Dawn, I've liked you since the first day we met, when you saved me from those stupid kids. And I love you now. So much. I want you to have the perfect future and life you deserve and I want to be the one who gives it to you. You're such a beautiful young lady and I want to grow old with you, and you'll still be beautiful to me. So, Dawn Bowie," he got on one knee and pulled a box out of his pocket, opening it. There was a beautiful ring inside. "Will you do the honor of marrying me?" he asked me. Everyone was staring at me. I took a deep breath.
"Yes!" I smiled and hugged him, kissing him passionately. He kissed me back before pulling away to put the ring on my finger. The family around the table clapped.
"Tonight will be a celebration of their engagement." Dad said, raising his glass. "Congratulazioni ai nostri piccioncini appena fidanzati." (Congratulations on the newly engaged lovebirds.)
"Congratulazioni!" Everyone cheered.
