5. Reunion

BUCKY POV:
I'm sitting in the living room, facing the elevator, we're all here apart from Steve, Natasha and Sam who are on a mission. Stark is still trying to locate my girls, trying to find out more about them, he speaks up "Have you remembered anything else about them?" I sigh "No." "Well, they probably didn't erase your memories of them until somewhat recently, especially if you trained one of them."

Yeah, I did recognise them each time. So, why did they erase the memories eventually?

"Wait, didn't you move from Germany to Russia?" "Yeah." "Maybe they got rid of your memories then, maybe they split you up? You'd fight back so they'd have to get rid of your memories, losing you kids wouldn't be the best day ever."

As I blink Stark's face turns into Aala's and everything around me changes to the HYDRA gym...

"Daddy! Daddy!" Aala is smiling and running to me, dragging Neve behind her, they stop in front of me and I stare at Aala a moment. Her hair isn't what it was when I saw her last, instead of being brown it's now blonde at shoulder length "Girls." My 13 year olds look at me with two different expressions, Aala is clearly excited and keeps running her hands through her blonde hair. Neve on the other hand, is looking at the floor, looking rather sad. Aala shouts and starts jumping up and down "I HAVE POWERS!"

WHAT!? They gave my babies powers!?

"What!?" She starts talking rather quickly "Look at my hair, it's blonde! It's blonde and it's gorgeous! Look at it!" I chuckle "I can see it. Did they come with the powers or did your mother let you dye it?" "With my powers! I can heal people! Like, actually heal people! BEST DAY EVER!" I laugh at her excitement.

I love seeing her like this, it makes me feel happy.

"Show me then." She drops her smile "But you aren't hurt." I take a dagger off the side, both girls shout and reach out at the same time "NO!" "It's alright, I won't do anything drastic." I sit on the floor, Neve sits on my right and leans her head on my shoulder, Aala sits opposite me. I cut the palm of my flesh hand and place it on my leg, Neve grabs it.

Did Neve get powers, or just Aala?

I watch as Aala hovers her hand slightly above mine, her hand glows a warm yellow and I feel a tingling sensation, when she pulls her hand back the glow fades away and the cut has completely healed "That's incredible." She beams "I know! I can't wait to see what Neve gets to be able to do!" I look to Neve, who looks up at me, she speaks in a quiet voice "They're still trying to figure something out for me." I kiss her head "You'll be amazing, no matter what ability you get. Then you can come show me."

I blink and see Stark waving his hand in my face "Hello?" I swat his hand away "Aala has healing powers, she-" I stop as the elevator doors open, revealing the rest of the Avengers, I get a shiver down my spine as the temperature in the room drops. I stand up to greet them, they step into the room and step aside revealing a young lady in purple, with really long blonde hair.

That's my Aala!

Her smile fills her whole face, she drops a battle axe and runs at me "DAD!" There's a couch between us, but that doesn't slow her down as she effortlessly leaps over it, she jumps into my arms, wrapping her legs around my waist. I bury my face into her shoulder and hold her tight, but not too tight "Aala…?" "It's me, it's me." She pulls her head back and looks me in the eyes, tears are running from her green eyes "We wanted to get out, to find you, but they kept a close watch on us. It wasn't until today that they sent us out on our first mission, it was our only chance to get out of there." Steve speaks "They helped us fight the HYDRA Agents who attacked us, then healed us afterwards."

We? Neve?

I hear Sam say something "Bruce, can you sort out my broken finger? She can only heal flesh." I put Aala down on her feet "Your sister, where is she? Where's Nevie?" She turns around, looking to the elevator "Neve? Neve!" When she doesn't get a response, she launches herself over the couch and strides over to the elevator, she looks behind Steve and holds out her hand "Come on."

I know she's shy, but why is she hiding from me? I used to be the one she'd hide behind.

A paler hand takes Aala's, she slowly walks out from Steve's shadow, looking at the ground, she's dressed in blue and has white-blonde hair instead of the same colour as me. Aala pulls her towards me, around the couch, they stop in front of me "Neve?" She looks up at me, her blue eyes watering "I'm sorry..." I take a step forward to comfort her, but she takes a step backwards.

What's happened? Is she scared of me?

Aala puts her hands on her hips "Don't you dare." Neve looks at her and speaks quietly "I don't want to hurt him." "You won't, you've got control, you know that." "But what if I-" "No! It's been 5 years, you've got this." Neve takes a deep breath and looks up at me, she slowly approaches and wraps her arms around my torso, I wrap mine around her back. I can feel coldness coming off her body, but the cold never bothered me anyway. I feel the vibrations of her silently crying, I whisper to her "Whatever happened, we can get through it. I'm so glad to have you back." I hold out a hand to Aala "Both of you." She takes my hand and I pull her in, she joins the hug, wrapping her arms around both of us.

For a while the 3 of us just stand there, hugging, no one speaks, no one moves, when we eventually pull away from each other I notice the Avengers had left us alone. I walk them to the elevator and to my room, one sits either side of me on the end of my bed "Tell me what happened." Aala tells me about the limits of her powers and physical abilities, she also tells me all about Neve's powers. Aala is explaining that the pair of them have stayed almost the same as when I knew them, but one part catches my attention "...apart from Neve, she's super confident now."

She doesn't seem it.

I raise an eyebrow "Honest, she's very confident." I look to Neve, who huddles closer to me, still not having said anything, since arguing with her sister before hugging me "She's just gone shy now because she's scared." I take Neve's face in my hand "What are you scared about?" She takes a deep breath "My ice powers..." I nod "Which Aala told me you're amazing with." "Killed mom..."

Oh... That's why she's scared.

"I'm so sorry! I had gotten my powers when you had to leave, I was having a nightmare about you going, and I freaked. My powers started up, I killed the Agents in the room... and mom..." I hug her tighter "It's not your fault, I'm not blaming you." "That's what I told her." Aala makes her way around and sits on Neve's other side, rubbing her back "We then knew we wanted to leave, but let them train us first." "You're smart girls, and at least you still had each other."
