I tapped my pencil mindlessly on the paper, my chin in my hand. My eyes felt heavy with exhaustion. I could only hear the clock on the wall make quiet ticks, closer and closer to the time I would be released. It was hell.

I was put into detention for being late to school. I had slept through my alarm like every teenager has done before several times, and now I had to pay the consequences. I tried to keep myself motivated to make it through, since I could sign up for swim tryouts after I got out, now that I had the time without running to my next class.

The ticking clock read 4:23 pm. Seven more minutes to freedom. I let my eyes drift close as I slowly pressed my body to the cold desk. My eyelids cracked open to look outside at the gloomy day. Our area was being attacked by a major storm over the past few days. I loved the weather, but it provided such a problem walking to and from school. I would get soaked since I knew an umbrella would be hopeless in the insane wind, so I spent my travel time holding down my bangs and making a run for it.

As soon as I heard the teacher utter a word, signaling it was time to leave, I bolted up like I wasn't even tired, stuffing the paper into my bag and standing at the speed of light. I dashed out of the room and down the hall, my shoes squeaking on the floor due to the wetness that covered the solid surface. I slowed down a mere seconds after, panting and out of breath as I held my stomach in pain while I cramped up. I never was the running type.

Thankfully, I was the only one at the large swimming pool's doors. I audibly let out a small sigh of relief. My shaky hand reached up to slowly sign my name messily onto the sheet posted. As I closed the cap of my pen, I decided to read who else signed up.

1. Park Jimin

As expected. This was a co-ed swim team so I was excited to be on a team with him anyways. Every year they made people re-tryout. Even though Jimin was the captain last year, he might have some competition this year.

2. Kim Yugyeom

3. Ka Hyunjae

4. Choe Myungdae

5. Im Kyungmi

6. Son Dongmin

7. Kim Hyunshik

8. Park Soojin

9. Lee Bomi

My heart dropped. I was confused as to why someone as high maintenance and uptight as Bomi was on this list for swim tryouts. Bomi didn't do swimming. Every year since primary school she was always making up a lie to avoid the swimming portion in gym. If she did swim, she was forced to by the gym teachers who didn't want to hear her bicker on the sidelines.

10. Jeon Jungkook

Problem solved. An annoyed groan escaped my lips before reading over my own name and the blank spaces underneath.

11. Park Rose

"I didn't know me joining would be such an annoyance to you." I jumped at the voice that stood out right next to my left ear, I turned my head with wide eyes and saw his face staring at the paper as if he was analyzing my handwriting over my shoulder. I sighed and relaxed.

"It's not," I mumbled under my breath

"Sounds like it is." He chuckled as He stood back up straight, giving me the opportunity to turn and face him. It was weird, for once I wasn't a total mess in front of him. I felt calm. But that was probably the result of how tired I was. "Do you want a ride? It's really dark outside for you to walk home alone, especially in our neighborhood."

I sent a small nod his way, adjusting the backpack on my shoulders awkwardly before walking ahead of him towards the exit doors, mentally cursing at myself along the way.

It was going so well.

I heard quiet footsteps approach as I slowed down my speed to let him catch up. As soon as he did, he slowed to walk beside me. I felt my heartbeat race as I tried to stare forward.

Here come the feels.

I faked a small smile as I tried to maintain my composure, letting the glass doors slide open. I was suddenly hit by a huge gust of wind, and my first instinct was to hold down my bangs so that I wouldn't reveal my forehead to him, it was one of my biggest insecurities. I had bangs for years, even though my forehead isn't huge, it's still a major fear for him to see me as any less than how I present myself actively.

I listened to the aggressive rain droplets pound against the hard cement, thunder rumbling like a large, amped snare drum. I squinted in the rain, waiting for Jungkook to go to his car so I could follow. I felt a large hand wrap around my now-wet wrist and tug me down the staircase. I let out a squeal of shock, tripping over myself as I tried to keep up with his long legs as he ran against the cracked pavement, the both of us running through puddles that were big enough to splash up to our waists.

I didn't wait for him to open the door for me, I ripped open the door myself and leaped into the large seat of the vehicle, slamming the door behind me as I sighed in relief, watching the rain fall outside with a sense of victory. I didn't realize I had accidentally locked the doors behind me when I slammed my door shut, leaving Jungkook to frantically yank at his door handle to no avail.

I wondered why he wasn't in the car, turning my head to the window to see Jungkook knocking on it. I couldn't help but scream in shock and quickly unlock the doors to let a shaken, and very wet, Jungkook into his car.
