A seemingly fairytale romance between the two most powerful people in school was thought to be a match made in heaven because of their similarities.
Except that their similarities are the things that drive them apart.

Dana seemed coherent enough to drive Danielle home at the end of the day and even offered to stay over at her house for a while. The house would be empty for a while, leaving a good amount of time to mess around before any parents were around.
"Did you understand the prompt for our English essay because this makes zero sense," Dana said, dropping her backpack on the shag carpet of Danielle's room then sprawling out on the floor. "Then again I was sleep the whole time."
"We'll do homework later but right now we need to work on my birthday party invitations!" Danielle sang, showing her friend a box of pink cards. "Help me with the guest list!"
"You invite the same people every year," Dana replied, tightening the strings on her hoodie. "Why do you need my help?"
"Because you're my best friend and I want the party to be perfect. Eighteen is a huge deal." Danielle ripped a piece of paper from a random notebook and clicked a pen. "Obviously you're first on the list."
"I would hope so."
"Then Tina and Carol and Tommy H.-"
"Tommy H.?!" Dana cried, sitting straight up. "You're inviting Tommy H.?!"
"He's better than Tommy B."
"If you're gonna invite a Tommy invite Tommy R. At least he showers," Dana said. "Inviting Tommy H. is like inviting Steve."
"Shut up, no it's not."
"Are you inviting Steve?"
Danielle looked at her friend then at the guest list. She shrugged. "I mean, if all else fails..."
"Jesus Christ!" Dana exclaimed, falling back onto the carpet.
"What?"
"You're a hung up, loser bitch, Danielle," Dana laughed into her hands. "Good God!"
"What's wrong?"
"You can't invite Steve to your party you idiot. You'll look like a dumbass."
"It's social suicide if I don't invite him."
"It's social suicide if you do!"
"He's popular, Dana, I have to."
"You're so stupid. Like, every time I think you can't get stupider, you do."
Danielle rolled her eyes and wrote Steve down on the guest list.
"You know, since we're inviting people who've screwed you over write Nancy Wheeler down. At least Steve will have someone to slow dance with," Dana said.
