Billy had never been a big believer in fate until Danielle Toledano walked into his third period English class. He contemplated skipping his third period but was suddenly glad he didn't. He couldn't get enough of this girl and they'd just met which was embarrassing in his opinion. Girls were usually going to class to see him, not the other way around.

Danielle almost sat down at a desk across the room until she saw Billy. He gestured to the empty seat beside him and she rushed to fill the void.

"Well, well, well, hello again," she greeted, pulling her curls over one shoulder. "I didn't know you actually attended class."

            "Same for you, Queen Danielle."

"I can't be queen of the school if I don't go to school," she reasoned. "I skip every once and a while but I manage to maintain a 3.5."

"You could probably have a 4.0 if you didn't skip," Billy said, leaning back in his seat. "You seem like a smart girl."

"I am," she replied, straightening her posture, "but I hate school."

"So do the rest of us, Your Highness, you're not special."

"Why are you following me all of a sudden, huh? The Halloween party, then this morning, and now English class? Can I catch a break?" Danielle sighed.

Billy grinned. "Two out of the three of those were coincidences," he explained. "I don't stalk people in my spare time. I'm not a freak."

"Okay," she scoffed, opening up her notebook.

This was his chance. All he had to do was ask for her phone number. Why couldn't he just ask?

The entire class period went by without a decent, peaceful moment to pose the question. This dilemma was ruining Billy's ego. He wished she would just ask for his like a normal girl.

"Do me a favor today and drink some water," Danielle joked when the bell rang. "I don't know how much beer you had last night but it was probably lethal."

"Didn't realize you were my mom," Billy said, walking out of the classroom with her.

"Friends have to look out for each other," she concluded, patting him on the shoulder. "See you around, cutie."
