"Sofia..." Damian warned, sceptically eyeing our surroundings as he slowly drove down the street.

"Please, I just need to—"

"This isn't my territory, doll," he reminded me, very tense right now, "I'm trusting you here".

This would have been the perfect chance to have my pack waiting for me at the cemetery where we were now going, but that wasn't something I had planned.

I wasn't even at the Fallen Angels' pack house during the timeframe I knew the raid would be happening, which was stupid, really. There was no way I could be brought back to my pack, at least today.

It was almost frightening how it was my choice not to be saved today.

There was also the fact that a raid meant violence and above the people from my pack who might even get killed by attacking the most powerful pack in the world, a part of me was terrified at the thought of something happening to Damian...

"You can stay in you car, if it makes me you feel better," I sighed, unbuckling my seatbelt as he parked in the empty parking lot of the cemetery.

"No, I'm coming with you," he grumbled to himself, unbuckling his seatbelt as well and getting out of the car.

Damian had pulled up the hood of his hoodie, sticking his hands into its pockets while following me into the cemetery.

A dull ache had settled in my heart, feeling the pain all over again of losing a loved one.

As I neared Sawyer's grave, I folded my arms over my chest and slowed down my steps.

Damian was quiet, but I could feel him watching me very intensely when I stood in front of Sawyer's grave and gravestone, staring down at it.

"Are you okay?" He asked after a few minutes of us just standing there, surely feeling how upset I was getting.

"I am," I replied, "I just miss him".

He growled underneath his breath, one of those possessive Alpha growls that had my core clenching. This wasn't the time for that, though.

"Don't," I mumbled to him, and surprisingly he didn't say anything back.

I took a moment remembering the good times with Sawyer, before I felt ready to go after praying he was happy and safe, wherever he was.

I turned to Damian who was still watching me closely. I gave him a tight lipped smile, arms still folded over my chest.

"We can g-" I began, but my words got jumbled up and lost when he brought his thumb up to run over my cheek.

I realised he wiped away a lone tear.

His features looked even darker with the hood casting a shadow as well as his furrowed brows.

Damian's hand didn't pull away after he gently wiped away the tear, and instead moved to cup my jaw, thumb gently moving over my cheekbone.

His touch calmed me immensely, taking my pain away. His hand left before I had wanted it to and he looked away.

"Let's go," he spoke, clearing his throat. I could feel the regret he was feeling for having been the one who'd decided to have Sawyer murdered.

My heart skipped a beat when his hand suddenly took ahold of mine and began guiding me back towards his car.

"I know a great place for dinner, Sofia," Damian broke the silence after driving off and back towards his territory, "is it good with you, or do you want to head back-"
