After my heat finally ended, I felt absolutely exhausted.

Asleep in the passenger's seat of another one of Damian's cars, I let the quiet classical music lull me away.

It wasn't a long drive to where my family and pack house were, yet I slept the whole time.

Even as Damian had promised to take me to see them at latest yesterday morning, I had realised myself it was impossible for me to leave bed.

We had had sex I don't know how many times, and now that I was finally no longer in heat, I felt like every muscle in my body was done with me.

"Sofia," his voice wasn't gentle, even if his hand squeezing my thigh was. His voice was rough and cold.

"Ten more minutes, please..." I murmured, trying to gain every single second more that I could where I could keep my eyes closed.

"No. We need to talk," he spoke, and I sighed, slowly coming back from my sleep.

I peeked my eyes opened to find his dark green ones watching me with disappointment. My brows were quick to furrow as I straightened up into a sitting position.

"What's up? We're here!" I couldn't conceal my happiness at the sight of my pack house just in front of us.

It was late, yet the lights were on which meant they were expecting us.

"Sofia," his voice was low and almost threatening, "you need to tell me something".

"Sure.. what's wrong?" My smile faded and attention focused back on him.

The two cars which had followed us drove ahead, Damian's men getting out to make sure it was safe for him to be here despite all the short-time treaty's our packs had organised for this visit.

"You lied to me".

I blinked slowly, trying to keep my heart rate down since he could very well sense it.

"Excuse me?" I wondered. He sighed and turned to look over at what was happening in front of us.

"Tell me the truth, or I'll back away now and not let you see your family, do you understand?" His voice was so cold, it made me shiver.

"Y-yes," I had a good idea what this was about, and knew he'd resent me.

"You told me you didn't know about the raid or the person from your pack who's undercover in mine, Sofia. I wanted to believe you, so much," he began, and my heart fell.

"And even when you called the fucking pack doctor your aunt... I'm so fucking stupid," he pinched the bridge of his nose and I reached out to place my hand comfortingly on his thigh.

"No, Damian, I'm sorry..."

"So, it is true? I need to hear you say it," he mumbled, avoiding my eyes.

For a moment I was quiet, enduring the pain that my mate was causing me, "yes, it's true. I knew about the raid. But I was good, I got us to go on that date so we weren't there during it because a part of me didn't want them to get me back-"

"I thought you were having a nice time and that's why you wanted to stay out so long," he cast me a small look, and I frowned.

"I had a great time," I spoke quietly.

"Sofia, two women died. If you had told me about the raid I could have done something to prevent it and those two women would be alive," he was only making me feel so much more guilty.

"I-I didn't know it'd be violent. I just assumed they'd sneak in to look for me..."

He ran a hand through his hair, but I continued.
