The couple had gotten in bed like every other night. They got under the blankets and snuggled close together, relishing each other's touches and talking sleepily. When they finally turned their lights off, Hermione rolled to her side and Draco draped an arm around her waist.
They slept, like usual. Their eyelids fell heavy and their minds fell into a dreamland. Or rather, Hermione's mind did. Draco fell into a deep abyss of nightmares.
Hermione jerked awake as she felt Draco stir in bed next to her, whimpering. She rubbed her eyes groggily and turned around. She let out a little gasp as Draco whimpered and twitched, tortured by his night terrors.
"Please," he mumbled fearfully. "Please don't hurt me."
"Draco?" she said. "Draco, wake up. It's only a dream."
She shook him harshly.
Draco woke up shaking, his eyes full of fear. He clenched his eyes shut and let out a silent sob. Hermione's heart broke.
The nightmares were nightly occurrences that she could do nothing to stop. She remembered her own nightmares, and how utterly horrible they were. The letters on her wrist caused panic attacks, and she had been so helpless. She was getting better; recovering, but Draco seemed to be getting worse. His nightmares were getting increasingly gory and it was getting harder for him to snap out of it in the mornings.
Hermione pulled him closer to her chest and rubbed his back, whispering soothing words to him. She stroked his beautiful hair and fluffed his pillows and tucked him in.
"They're only nightmares," Hermione whispered. "They're going to get better; mine did."
"I don't know. They're just getting worse."
"I'll figure something out, don't worry. Just go to bed. I'm going to be right here next to you."
Note: Sorry for the short chapter. They're going to get longer once we have an actual plot and stuff :)
