Hermione hummed as she accioed her things into her trunk. It had been a long time since she'd put anything in it. She remembered when she put the undetectable extension charm on it during fifth year, making it easy to pack for the years after that. She sighed, remembering fondly of her past self, always so excited for a new year of Hogwarts. She would pack weeks in advance.
Hermione picked up the piece of parchment.
Dear Harry and Ginny,
Hello! It's Hermione. How have you been holding up? I know Ron was quite upset when I announced the news yesterday. I hope he will forgive us for telling it on such short notice. I am just about ready to leave, although I'm stopping by at Diagon Alley first, to pick up a few things. I hope to see the both of you soon.
Love,
Hermione Malfoy
After she had attached the letter to her long-eared owl, Finn, she packed away the last of her books, closed the trunk, then headed downstairs. The trunk floated after her. To her surprise, Draco was already packed and ready to go.
"Do we leave now?" he asked me, giving me a peck on the cheek.
"No, the Cullens think we're not arriving for another two hours, we'll have to wait." she said. "We have to go to Diagon Alley before we leave."
The couple apparated to the leaky cauldron.
"Hello, Tom!" Hermione said happily. "Would you mind keeping an eye on our things before we leave?"
"Of course not, Mrs. Malfoy," Tom replied. "Where are you headed to?"
"America," she beamed.
"America," he repeated. "Quite a trip. Enjoy your travels, Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy."
"Thank you!" Hermione smiled at him.
Hermione and Draco wandered around Diagon Alley, getting a few things that they would not be able to acquire in America. Draco spent most of his time there smiling at the sight of Hermione in the bookstore, as eager as a child in an ice cream parlour.
With great difficulty, Draco convinced Hermione to only buy four books, as apparating America alone would be difficult. With extra luggage, it would cause an even bigger strain on them.
When the two finally apparated to America, their knees buckled as they almost threw up. Apparating to a completely different country was a lot harder than going to the Leaky Cauldron for a drink. After their stomachs were settled down, they walked into the airport, searching for Bella and the rest of the Cullens.
Hermione and Draco found Bella and the Cullens sitting on a bench. The beautiful family stuck out like a sore thumb. There were four people in total. Bella looked positively radiant, her sparkling eyes darting around, searching.
Bella stepped forward with a man. He had bronze hair and golden eyes.
"Bella?"
"Hermione?"
"The one and only," Hermione replied, grinning.
Hermione tensed as Bella pulled her into a hug. "This is Draco." A bronze-haired man had a frustrated look on his face as he studied the two very closely.
"Hi Bella. Hello, Edward," Hermione replied, smiling. "I'm Hermione, and this is my husband Draco."
"Hello, Draco. This is a fraction of my family, Carlisle, Esme, and my husband Edward."
There were some murmured introductions before they headed towards the parking lot. The car ride was slightly uncomfortable. It was almost impossible to cut through the awkward tension the the van.
When they finally arrived at the house, the Hermione was pleased to see that the house was exactly like the pictures. It was white and had two stories. There were gray frames and a black roof, and the front yard was spacious and green with a single wooden bench.
She looked back to the Cullens and told them, "The house is lovely. Thank you so much for helping us out. We would love to hang out, but we are a bit tired from our trip, I think we should head in, unpack and rest. Thank you again. Bella, I'll text you tomorrow."
