"Mom, your phone's ringing!" Renesmee yelled out from somewhere in the house.
No need to yell, of course. She was a vampire. However, those rare human traits about Renesmee were admittedly her favorite.
"Alright, sweetie, I'm coming." Bella sped into the house before the caller hung up. She took the phone from Renesmee's warm hands and held it against her ear. "Hello?"
"Hello, is this Bella Swan?" A voice came from the other end. It was a female's voice. She had a British accent that sounded strangely familiar, although it may have been because it was a generic voice heard all over the media.
"Yes, that's me," Bella replied, "Who is this, may I ask?"
"Hermione Granger," the woman said.
"Huh?"
Was she supposed to know this person?
Then, she remembered.
"Oh my god, Hermione!" her voice went up an octave as she remembered. "Ah, I'm so sorry! I had forgotten all about you for a minute there. How have you been? I haven't heard from you in a while."
"Four years," Hermione specified. "I also sent you a few letters."
"Yeah, and that was what? Two years ago?" Bella said, laughing. "Who writes a letter these days, anyway?"
"Me, apparently," Hermione replied, amused. "Last time I checked, you were living in Forks. You still there?"
"Yep," Bella popped the p.
"That's great, because I have something to talk to you about," Hermione said, her voice getting serious. "Well, uh, a bit of a backstory, I got married, and my husband... Well, my husband's family kind of got entangled with this... gang, I guess you could say. We went through so much together, fighting them, the past is kind of catching up to him."
"That's terrible," Bella sympathized.
"Yes, well, I was thinking that a change of scenery would be good for our health, and we were considering Forks."
"Forks?"
"Yes," Hermione said. "The problem is, we know nothing about Forks. We don't have anywhere to live, either. So we were wondering if you could help us find a nice house or such."
"Of course!" Bella exclaimed. "In fact, my mother-in-law, Esme, designs houses. She probably knows a lot of good places. I can ask her and have her send you the details, if you want."
"That would be great, thank you. Uh, are you married, too?"
"Um, yeah," Bella informed her. "Edward Cullen."
"That's great!" Hermione exclaimed. "And you're happy together? You love each other?"
"Most definitely," Bella said. "Back to the houses, though. Any specific type you're looking for?"
"Not particularly, but bigger the better, I guess."
"Bigger the better," Bella repeated. "I never saw you as the big house type."
"Not me," Hermione sighed, "but my husband definitely is."
"My husband is like that, too," Bella rolled her eyes, even though Hermione couldn't see. "It's exasperating sometimes, but I love him."
"I feel the same about Draco."
There was a slight pause and an awkward silence.
"Well, uh, I'd better start looking for houses."
"Thanks so much, Bella!" Hermione said. "You're a life saver."
"No problem!" Bella replied with a genuine smile on her face.
When my call ended, she walked down to the living room to see nine curious faces.
"Who was that, Bella?" Emmett said. "Why are you looking for houses? Are you moving out? Finally ditching dear old Eddie here, huh?"
"No, Emmett," Bella laughed at his antics. "That was my cousin, Hermione. She's moving to Forks!"
There were murmurs around the room, some with excitement and some worry. She saw Alice bouncing up and down her seat, and Rosalie next to her frowned, distrust showing on her face.
"She needs a house," Bella ignored the panicked faces. "Could you help with that, Esme?"
"Of course," Esme smiled warmly. "We'll start looking right away. We are going to find the perfect house for your cousin."
