Jon PoV
"Are we ok?" I let the words roll around in my mouth. "Are we ok? Well that is the real question isn't it?" I had no idea how to answer him. Because I didn't know! We had moved from zero to serious quicker than I was comfortable with and in a way that made me ashamed of myself.
But him demanding his name from me, and offering his help with correcting my language, or more accurately lightly threatening to give it, gave me all sorts of nice flashbacks to the coronation night and I was very tempted to just throw myself at him!
All these mixed emotions made me sigh "I honestly don't know if we're ok Frederic." I tried to physically shake the confusion out of my head and looked back up at him "But I'm pretty sure that we will be." I gave him a little smile. "And now I do have to leave! I'll see you tomorrow. I'll be here around nine, as I'll be liaising between you, the team, the photographer and the journalists. We hope to have the pictures taken and ready for the journalists to choose from after the press conference."
With this said, I stood up and got ready to leave. When I got to the door I looked over my shoulder and grinned at my King. "See you tomorrow My Rex!" I poked my tongue out playfully at him and scurried through the door with his hearty laughter following me down the hallway.
------
Lord save my dick today! The way my King moves in front of the camera with natural ease and authority has me almost wishing that I wore a chastity device today. Almost being the keyword. I am very happy that my outfit dosen't require my shirt to be tucked in though, as my excitement would be hard to hide.
Even after all is said and done, my King is still a gorgeous man. And right now he seems like he is in his element, commanding the attention of the entire room. Looking through the pictures already taken I can see that the camera really loves him too! The journalists will have a difficult time choosing which ones to use for their articles.
After the photo shoot we all have a quick team-lunch in the Communication-Team workroom while Frederic's office is being prepared for the press conference. To optimize our time, we go through the pictures while we're eating and the whole team weigh in on which pictures to keep and why. It's actually pretty funny hearing my Kings comments and watching his expressions when my colleagues give their candid opinions.
"Now please do not tell me that there is anything wrong with this one!" He playfully pleads for another picture. Anne, the head of our media- and graphics department, answers him. "But Your Majesty your face is all wrong in that picture!" He put on a fake puzzled expression. "But it is my face. That is how it looks." Anne, running with the joke, snaps back. "And that's why we work with lighting and angles Your Majesty!" At this my King throws back his head letting out a huge laugh and I have to remind myself that I am still in a professional setting. His laughter does things to me that I'm not willing to admit even to myself.
After our working lunch I have to be back in Frederic's office to greet the journalists. I have met them all over the years, either through my work or through my father's, and I am on friendly terms with all of them. We exchange pleasantries as they get seated, some of them congratulating me on landing a job on the King's team. One even joke that now that I'm getting quite close to the powers that be of our country, the next logical step would be me following my fathers footsteps into politics. I laugh and exclaim "You all better hope that I don't. Just imagine the laws that I would try to pass!"
Just as I say this, Frederic steps through the door and hearing my comment he chuckles and turns to the journalist. "Please do not tempt Jon. We need him too much here at the castle! And besides, our country would never be the same if he ever set his eye on politics." Everybody smiles at this and the press conference starts on a good note.
Again my King takes command of the room, making the journalists feel comfortable and letting them take their time asking their questions.
At first they ask the predictable questions like: "How are you settling into your new role?" ("It is surprisingly a much harder job, than I ever thought it would be!")
"What would you ask your father now that you are walking in his shoes?" (Laughing "Do you know where my own shoes are?")
"What is one thing that has surprised you about being King?" ("That it was apparently possible for people to be even more curious about me and my life?!?")With every answer I can feel my chest swell in pride that I get to work for this man. Even when they go into more difficult questions, he isn't stumped.
"Your Majesty, what can you tell us about the cancellation of the last press conference?" One of the older journalists asks. Now they're getting ready for the serious part!
"To be honest, and this is very hard to admit, I felt overwhelmed." Frederic gives a little smile "A King is not supposed to show weakness. But my father had just died a month prior. I am never going to talk to him again and I guess that the coronation just made that point abundantly clear. I needed a little time do digest that."
The old King had been very loved by the people and I can almost see the sympathy pouring from the press core to my King.
A few questions later another journalist finally has the balls to ask the question that we know everybody wants to know the answer to. "Your Majesty, everyone is really curious about the incident at the coronation after-party. The rumors say that you left with a handsome man. Do you want to enlighten us as to what happened?"
I feel my heartbeat pick up. I knew that the question would come, but it still scares the shit out off me! But weirdly enough I'm also very curious as to what his answer will be.
"I did leave with a handsome man." His answer almost makes me swallow my tongue! "I left with Jon if you must know." He gestures to me. And I'm fighting to keep my face neutral, while simultaneously trying to remember the symptoms for a heart attack. What in the ever living hell is he doing?
"You see..." He stage whispers "...Jon really wanted me!" All the journalists sit up a little bit straighter and throw glances my way, and I'm fighting a vicious blush. I'm seriously going to kill that man!
"He really wanted me... To keep an eye on my champagne intake." Frederic laughs "He has been appointed liaison between the PR team and myself. So he has the unfortunate job of keeping me in line. Poor man has his job cut out for him! But rumors travel at lightspeed and one conversation can apparently turn into a whole relationship. Do you think, that if I have a private conversation with a woman, the tabloids will declare me straight next?" He smirks conspiratorically at the journalists, creating the feeling of them being in the joke played on their colleagues.
They seem to find his answer satisfactory and just move on. And while the questions continue I zone out, wanting to calm my murderous mood. That was some kind of stunt he pulled there, but at least they seem to be off our scent now.
I zone back in when the press conference seems to be winding down. Frederic thanks the journalists for coming and I tell them that we will send them the pictures from this morning. We then leave as the press starts to gather up their equipment.
Half way down the hallway my King turns to me "How did I do?" I take a deep breath "How did you do? Besides almost killing me, you mean?" He laughs "Yeah besides that." I give him a little smile "It didn't go the way I thought it would. But you seem to have made the question ridiculous, so I'll count it as a win."
He smirks "Yes I think that I owe you an apology for putting you on the spot like that. But they ate it up and I think that they will leave it be for now." He turns to continue down the hall "Let us hope for quieter times in the future!" I heartily agree.
At the end of the hall we part ways, my King going off to enjoy the rest of his day. While I go to check in with Jacob before heading home to sleep for a week.
