I looked in the mirror at my outfit I had planned for today. It was Sunday and I was going to go for lunch with Mariah. I haven’t seen her as much since college started, and since it was just turning October, I wanted to see her again.

I had put on a cream colored dress with long sleeves, pairing it with my favorite dark brown combat boots. I had curled my hair a bit, because it seemed like I never did that anymore. I grabbed my brown cross-body bag and made my way out of the dorm.

The restaurant was just outside campus so it was not a long ways to go.

I arrived not much later, and I saw her already sitting at one of the tables outside. I walked over to her with a big smile on my face.

“Ahh! Kristineee! I haven’t seen you for so long!” She exclaimed jumping up and hugging me.

“Mariah I’ve missed you so much!” I replied equally excited, even though everyone around us was probably staring by now.

We sat down, and soon later the waitress came by to order our drinks.

“So, Kristi tell me, has there been any cute guys you like?” She said while sipping her ice tea. Mariah was always one to bring that up right away.

I laughed nervously then replied, “Well, there is this one guy..”

Mariah’s eyes suddenly widened as to say ‘tell me more’

I started from the first day of school when I saw him in class. Then I told her about the date at Lake Harriet, and finally about yesterday.

When I arrived at the library, I immediately walked towards the back, already knowing that Luke was going to be by the window. That kid had a weird obsession with windows and corners.

When I saw him sitting there, he couldn’t have looked more perfect. He had finally decided to wear something other than black. Don’t worry, he still had the jeans and shoes, and I guess he was still wearing a black shirt, but he now had a blue and white flannel on top of it. It was beautiful.

I suddenly dropped my bag so he looked up at me, this time he only had one earbud in.

“Oh hey Kris, come sit.” He patted the chair next to him.

I sat down smiling at him.

“Well I think we should get a head start working on the project then..” He told me while leaning down to grab his book.

I pulled out my book and laptop, and we started working on most of it.

About 20 minutes later I was starting to lose interest. I was flipping my pencil around not really paying to whatever he was saying anymore.

“Paquette are you even listening anymore?” He asked with a straight face.

 “No Hemmings, I am not.”

“Well we have to finish this project sooner or later.”

A question suddenly popped up into my head that I wanted to ask him.

“Luke, do you have any other friends besides me?” I asked half joking half serious.

“Of course I do,” he defended, “I have my roommate Michael, he’s pretty cool. We talk sometimes. And usually on tuesdays I study with Ashton and his friend Calum at the library. We’re all in the same Calculus class.”

“And I also have a pet fish, we talk sometimes,” I mocked him in a low voice (I sounded a little like Patrick Star). “You’re pathetic, Luke,” I giggled.
