a/n --  hope this chap doesn’t suck. It’s kinda hard to describe a play I saw a few years ago. I’m doing this from memory people, it’s not exact. Some lines will be off, get over it people. On with the story, shall we!?

(Kristine’s POV)

“How does this look Mariah?”

Mariah and I were facetiming on our phones. I was nervous about getting ready for my date tonight. I would be asking Sierra all of this stuff, but she never seemed to be around.

“Do you have anything gold you could pair with it?” she suggested.

I looked through my jewelry and found a set of gold bangles.

“Perfect! Except put some eyeliner on. Don’t over do it. I have to go. I’ll call you tomorrow. Good luck, Kristine!” she hung up.

I looked in the mirror. I was wearing an army green off-shoulder sweater, black skinny jeans, flats, and gold bangles. I had my hair in long, loose curls. My makeup was simple, and natural looking.

My phone went off and I saw it was a text from Luke.

“you ready?” he asked.

“Yeah- I’ll be down in one minute”

As I was looking through my purse to make sure I had everything I heard a knock at my door. When I opened it Luke was there.

“Hello, miss Kristine.”

“Luke! I didn’t expect you up here.”

“Exactly,” he replied.

He looked nice. His black skinny jeans didn’t have any holes, and he was wearing a red button up shirt.

“You look nice,” I complimented.

“As do you.”

I linked arms with him and Luke lead me down to the parking lot. We stopped at a silver Prius. Luke unlocked it and helped me inside. It was extremely clean (except for some CD cases) for a teenage boy’s car.

“You’re being awfully nice. You didn’t have to open the door for me or anything,” I commented.

“Well, it’s our first official date, so I want to make it special.”

“You’re sweet.”

“And romantic,” he winked.

We pulled out of the parking lot and got onto the highway.

“How long of a drive is it?” I asked.

“About 25 minutes, maybe 30. Depends on traffic.”

“Why did I not know you have a car?”

“First of all, gas is expensive. So I only drive when I can’t walk. Secondly, campus is right here in Minneapolis so I can walk to wherever I need usually pretty easily. Or take the Metro. And lastly, it’s not winter yet.”

I nodded agreeing with all his points. I have a car, but I decided to leave it at my parents for all the reasons Luke just listed.

“Music?” he offered.

“Sure.”

He handed me a cord telling me I could plug in my phone and play whatever I wanted. I said we could plug in his phone and listen to his music, but he said he wanted to hear what I listened to because we’ve always listened to his bands.

I pulled up my Favorites playlist. It consisted of mostly the Summer Set, the Ready Set, Birdy, and Avril Lavinge.

Luke tapped his fingers on the steering wheel to the beat of the music.
