Great. Two missed calls from Jake. I thought. I stood up, still dizzy, putting mg hand up against the brick wall to keep my balance. I wobbly walk toward the street, where it was light. I sit down on a bench next to a man who was waiting for the bus. I stare out towards the ocean across the street in hopes that the dizziness will go away.
"Hello." The man said, smiling at me.
"Oh, hi." I say, holding my hands between my legs.
"Nice morning, isn't it?" He said, looking up at the sky.
"Oh," I say looking up as well, "yeah, it is."
"Are you ok?" He asked. I let out a dreadful sigh, not wanting to tell him.
"Yeah, I just...had a long night."
"No, I mean, you have blood on your head." He said concerned. I quickly touched my head and hissed in pain. I felt the dried blood.
"Oh,...I hit my head. I didn't know it was bleeding." I stand up to start walking home, "um...thank you." I say turning and walking away. It felt like a century before I got home I got home but I finally made it. Everything looked pretty normal. Nothing looked out of the ordinary. I quickly took some medicine for my headache.
Still a little disoriented I sit down at the dinning room table, drinking a glass of water. Still baffled by the events from the night before, I just sit there and think. What the hell happened...?
I knew what had happened for the most part, but the biggest questions were still not answered. Who was it? How did they know everything about me and Jake? And why me?
Caught up in my thoughts, waiting for the headache to go away, I almost forgot about Jake. I quickly pull my phone out, examining it for more damage. The screen was cracked, and after getting a better look at it, I realized that the camera was broken. Great. Now I can't take pictures with my phone. I mean, I had my big professional camera that I took most of my photos with, but being a photographer, taking photos with a phone is just part of the hobby.
My phone still worked but I definitely planned on getting a new one. My battery was dead. The battery must've been really low when I checked it earlier. I plug my phone in to charge while I took a shower. I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror.
"No wonder that guy asked if I was ok. Yeah, he seen my bloody head, but I have dirt all over me. Face, arms, legs." I said to myself. I undress and get in the shower. It was nice having the hot water running on me. I was still scared. If that guy knows everything about me, then he probably knows where I live. What of he shows up here? I will never feel safe again. I finished my shower, drying off and getting dressed.
I walk over to where my phone was plugged in. 52%. Good enough. I unplug it and sit down on the couch. I have to tell Jake. But what if he gets attacked by that guy too. I went back and forth with my thoughts, wondering what I should do. Whether I tell him what happened last night or not, I do need to talk to him, assuming he will answer my call. And if I tell him, will he believe me? Gosh...what do I do...
