When Jack said that, I froze. He looked up at me, confused.
"What?"
"Oh, sorry, nothing." The rest of the lunch we had was awkward. Mainly because I couldn't stop thinking about him being that person. I didn't want to just ask him because I didn't want to trigger anything.
I was so relieved when the lunch was over. I suddenly tried to think of excuses to leave. I quickly got up.
"Well, this was nice, but I have to go." I said. He quickly got up, putting his arm in front of me.
"Wait. Where are you going?"
"Home. Like I said, I only stopped here to get some food."
"What's at home?"
"Nothing. It's just getting late, and I've been out all day. So I'm going to go home to relax."
"Come and hangout with me. We planned it remember?". Shit. I forgot about that.
"Right. Well, uhh, is there going to be anybody else there?"
"Yeah, it's a party." Well at least there's other people. I guess it wouldn't hurt.
"Sure. Why not."
"Great. Let's go."
Once we got to the house, there were already tons of people there. It looked more like a club rather than a house. The air was so thick, I don't know how anybody was breathing. There were drinks and cups everywhere on the floor. It was hard to take a step without stepping on one of them.
"I'll get you a drink, hold on." he said.
"No, that's ok." I tried to stop him but he couldn't hear me. A few drinks wouldn't hurt right? As I waited for him to get back, I started thinking about Jake. He has to be here. Jack soon came back.
"Here." He said, handing me a cup. It just looked like juice.
"What's in this?"
He laughed, "juice, alcohol, oh and some sugar." I took a drink.
"Isn't Jake here?" I asked.
"Yeah." He said.
"Where is he?"
"Maybe upstairs." I started walking in that direction.
"Where are you going?"
"I want to see Jake. I'll be back, I promise." I knew that if I said that he would agree. He just smiled and said ok.
I walked upstairs and started looking around for Jake. Maybe he's not up here. I started walking back down stairs when I heard my name.
"Jessica!"
"Jake!" We gave each other big hugs.
"I didn't know you would be here."
"Neither did I but I ran into Jack on my way home, and he insisted I come." All of a sudden I got really dizzy.
"Are you ok?" He asked.
"Yeah. Just a little dizzy."
"How much have you had to drink?"
"This is my first one."
"Let's sit down." He took me to what appeared to be a bedroom. My head was spinning, and I was so confused as to why this was happening. But on the plus side, I was finally alone with Jake.
