I whipped my head around to see 3 dark figures lurking on the other side of the glass doors.

I stood up as fast as I could and ran to the small closet that was near the tv.

My hands searched around in the darkness for a second before my finger grazed the cool wooden handle of my dad's old baseball bat. Clutching it in my fist I ran back to the glass door and slid it open with as much speed as I could manage without actually breaking the glass.

The three figures quickly move away from the door, their faces still guarded by the darkness of a moonless sky.

Two of them split off and the larger of the three slowly started to back up.

I can hear Mia shouting something at me but it was lost on the blind rage and fear that is coursing through me.

The taller figure lifted up its hands in surrender, "I'm sorry! Lana put the bat down. It's just us," pleaded the figure.

It was a guys voice but it seemed to have been raised an octave.

My grip tightened on the bat and I made a small fake out swing at him.

I guess he thought I wasn't messing around and was actually going to swing full out. I heard a yelp as his shoe slipped causing him to topple over and into my pool.

The lights to my backyard flicked on and it took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the sudden burst of light. I looked to my right and saw that the two figured that had peeled off were actually Trever and George.

They also happened to be laughing their butts off with Mia who was now on the ground, dry heaving from laughing so hard.

I felt my face heat up in embarrassment as I slowly turned around to find Oscar treading water. His usually curly waves were clinging to his face as he tried to look innocent.

"You guys suck!" I yelled, "and you," I pointed the baseball bat at Oscar, "You deserved to fall into that pool after the heart attack you just gave me."

He swam to the edge and pulled himself out in one swift motion.

I tried to ignore the fact that I could now clearly see the type of body he was sporting and focused on his face instead. He ran his hand through his hair to get it out of his face making him look like a hot 1950's greaser.

"I gave you a heart attack?? You were the one that just charged us with a baseball bat!" he accused.

I watched as the anger started to turn into humor and I could tell that he wasn't actually mad at me.

He took the baseball bat gently out of my hand as if it was a loaded weapon and smiled, "There, you can get this back when you learn to control yourself."

I scoffed at him and rolled my eyes.

He was dripping wet, smelled of chlorine and yet I still got that tingly feeling in my stomach when I looked up at him. He must have noticed how close he had gotten to me so he stepped back and pointed the bat at Mia, "If anyone deserves to go into the pool, it's her. She is the one that gave us your address and told us how long we had to wait before we scared you."

I snapped my head towards her and saw that her laughing had stopped completely. Looking like a deer caught in the headlights she took a second to collect herself before she sprinted back into the house.

She was smart.

I had seriously considered throwing her in.

Trevor and George wiped the tears from their eyes and walked over to where I was standing.
