I stood there like a statue as my mind tried to process what just happened.

I gave up on my journey to the water fountain and followed Drew back into the classroom. He wouldn't make eye contact with me no matter how hard I tried to get his attention. I needed to know why he just said that.

Two weeks was a very specific amount of time and that could not be just a coincidence.

I was headed towards him when Sarah grabbed my arm to stop me, "Lana, come be in my group!" she pulled me away. I had no choice but to follow her since I didn't want to cause a scene. I looked over at Austin and Drew again and was surprised to see them still sitting in their seats.

Drew was angrily whispering something to Austin and it looked like the golden boy could care less about what he had to say.

"Why are you staring over at my brother?" Sarah prodded me in the side with her manicured nail, "Unless you're not looking at him but at Austin?" she mused.

I shot her a glance and she smirked knowingly at me, "You're so crushing on Austin, aren't you? Don't be ashamed, every girl in school is. The only difference between you and them is that I think he likes you back. He doesn't just sit with anyone you know? He only talks to me because Drew is my older brother."

"I don't like Austin," I denied quickly.

Sarah just rolled her eyes, "Uh huh. Just so you know, I think you guys could be great together. I heard you rejected him last week so way to make him have to work for it. The other girls in this school are like putty in his hands."

I laughed a little, surprised to hear that my rejection had already gotten into the river of high school gossip.

"Can I tell you a secret?" she asked.

I nodded my head, curious to hear what she had to say. She leaned towards me and lowered her voice down to a whisper so that no one else could hear, "I heard a rumor that Austin is interested in some mystery girl but no one knows who she is. He's never actually committed to anyone before by only having casual flings here and there over the years. This year feels different somehow and the only difference this year is you."

She smiled and patted me on the back, "Maybe just don't reject him next time because if you're not careful he might think you're not interested. Guys are stupid when it comes to relationships so don't give him too many chances to prove he's an idiot okay?"

I shrugged my shoulders and smiled, "Yeah okay." I wasn't going to say yes to Austin unless I knew for sure that he was Guy. I processed this new information and advice, placing it on the back burner of my mind. So much had happened over the last 30 minutes that I didn't know what to make of it.

After having to act like animals for the better part of the class I was thankful when the bell rang, signaling the end of this odd form of torture. I hope Yale is worth it. I turned to try and catch Austin before he could leave.

My eyes found him and he sent me a look I couldn't decipher as Drew dragged him out of the auditorium by his arm.

With all chances of me asking him dragged out the door, I let out a huff and decided to pack up my stuff and leave. I needed to go home anyway since I had left my phone there. I hadn't heard from Guy yet this morning and I was curious to see if he had reached out today.

Even if he hadn't, I had a question I needed to ask him.
