I walked into the living room dressed in my black sweatpants and long sleeve black shirt. I was seriously in the mood for some tacos. Steve and Sam and Natasha were sitting in there, Bucky was reading a book.
"Hey, so you guys rarely eat homemade shit so I figured I make tacos tonight."
"You know how to cook?" Sam raised his eyebrows.
I saw Bucky look up from the corner of my eye.
"Well, I was born and raised in London so I mostly ate the cultural foods over there in that time and then I moved to Bulgaria around twelve and ate that food and then the US." I told them. "I am very diversed in the meal planning life. I'm going to the grocery store."
"Can you get cereal?" Natasha asked.
"And some oatmeal." Sam chimed in.
"Make sure to get some fruit snacks and Caprisuns for my kid." Tony walked by on his way to the lab.
"You have three hours left!" Steve yelled after him.
"Okay. Uhm...Bucky, wanna come with? May need a hand." I gave him a small smile.
I really took in consideration about the whole boundary thing and I wanted to show him a different side of me.
"Sure." Bucky closed his book and stood.
The beginning of the car ride was quiet. Bucky seemed confused. The radio played very softly, the song Lady In Red playing quietly. I heard Bucky humming to it. I turned up the volume and the song finished. And then Bohemian Rapsodey came on.
"I love this song!" I shrieked. "MAMA! OOHH OHH OHH OHH! Didn't mean to make you cry! Sometimes I wish I was never born at all!"
I continued singing, Bucky staring at me.
"Nothing really matters. Anyone can see. Nothing really matters...to me." Bucky finished off the song.
I looked over at him. "You sing?"
"I don't know how to but I do." He chuckled. "You sounded good."
"Thank you lots." I giggled.
We pulled into the grocery store parking lot. I parked the car and we got out. Bucky grabbed a cart and we went inside.
"So, do you always cover up your arm when you go out in public?" I asked as we walked down the bread aisle. I looked for tortillas and hard tacos.
"Yes." He nodded.
"The world knows about Avengers. Robots have tried to kill them countless amounts of time." I stated, finding the product and placing them in the cart. "I'm pretty sure your arm is the last thing they have nightmares about."
"Well the rest of you look like average human beings. The arm makes me look like one of those bots." Bucky placed fruit snacks in the cart.
"Insecure?" I raised my eyebrows. "I think people's flaws are what makes them beautiful."
Bucky was silent for a moment. I put a pack of Oreos and Cheez Itz in the cart.
"Do you have any flaws?" He finally asked.
"Let's just say that it was a good thing my towel dropped in the dark." I pushed my hair off my shoulder.
Bucky eyes dropped. We moved our way through the market, buying tonight's meal and other things. I payed and Bucky pushed the cart to the car. He loaded it and we got in.
"You shouldn't care about your arm." I pointed out to him. "Fuck anyone that says anything about your appearance."
"You should take your own advice." Bucky retorted.
"It's different for women." I sighed. "Hair has to be perfect, nails and feet, eyebrows and eyelashes. Perfect skin and body, no hair, perfect outfits..."
"I don't really care about appearance." Bucky admitted. "Though I am attracted to eyes."
"Any particular eyes currently?"
Bucky smiled softly. "Yeah. Just one."
Steve.
I laughed and we made it back to the house. Bucky and I brought in the groceries and Sam and Steve came over to put them away. Sam sat on the counter eating a bag of cheddar cheese popcorn and Steve sat at the dining table.
Bucky wanted to learn how to cook tacos so I walked him through all three meats. The chicken, the beef and the pork. Bucky seemed pretty interested as I spoke. I needed to get a bowl from the high cabinet to mix sour cream and some veggies and I began to reach. I stretched my body but I was only five three. At my house, I have a stool that helps me get around.
I felt Bucky's eyes on me and I jumped but didn't make it. He came over and towered over me, grabbing it easily. His front was pressed to my back and I took a deep breath. I smelled his cologne and I sighed. Bucky handed me the bowl and I asked him to cut up the veggies.
"Very thin but not too small." I watched as he made the first cut. I grabbed his hand and positioned his arm correctly and guided the cut. "Like that."
I saw Sam and Steve looking at us. I honestly didn't know where this infatuation with Barnes came from and I didn't know why he was suddenly being nice to me but I wasn't complaining. Bucky and I finished dinner and we all sat down to eat, even Tony joined.
"This is delicious, Genevieve." Steve exaggerated.
"Agreed." Sam nodded.
"Bucky helped." I told them, biting into a spicy taco.
"Thank you, Buck." Steve patted his shoulder.
The taco oil dripped down the side of my mouth and I wiped it up, I saw Bucky looking at me intensely but I ignored him and continued eating. After dinner, I walked out onto the patio. Bucky joined me a little while after.
"Dinner was amazing." Bucky told me.
"It was a little something." I shrugged.
"Well, thank you for teaching me." He whispered.
I paused for a moment as he was walking back inside.
"Do you want ice cream?" I asked. "We could sit out here and talk."
He looked at me.
"Or not. If you rather do other things."
He walked inside, totally ignoring me. Well damn. I sat back down. Where did this infatuation come from? Is it just because I'm trying to prove a point that my guard is nothing personal towards the team and letting him see my good and sweet side will help build a friendship? I mean, Buchanan isn't ugly. He's pretty damn hot with those big and sad blue ocean eyes and the long dark hair that he seems he doesn't know what to do with.
Bucky came back out on the patio with ice cream and two spoons. He handed me a spoon and for the first time, he had a not forced smile on his face.
