In a pumpkin patch at the edge of the lot there sat a small pumpkin. Every day people would come and pick out the biggest pumpkins they could find. No one ever picked the small ones. But everyday this little pumpkin hoped and dreamed for someone to take him home.

As time went on the patch got smaller and smaller until eventually having a few huge pumpkins and the rest were small pumpkins. One day a field trip was planned for the pumpkin patch. This made all the little pumpkins happy as they had a chance of being picked out. When the children arrived they immediately rushed over and picked out their pumpkin. Every pumpkin was gone except for that one little pumpkin. He started wondering why no one wanted him. Was it because he had a disproportionate body, unlike the others? Was it his odd coloring he had? Or was it that he was much smaller than any of the small pumpkins that were in the patch?

Then a little girl walked up to him. She had vitiligo on her arms, face, and neck, her eyes were a golden brown color and disproportional too. With hair short and stringy

"Do you want this pumpkin Nickie?" a teacher asked the little girl nodded then picked up the small pumpkin and took it home.

When the girl got home she set the pumpkin beside her bed before grabbed a sharpie and drew a face on him.

That night the little pumpkin was very happy that someone had picked him out making him smile.
