Chapter Fourteen
"Jesse, are you gay?"
"Darlin', it's two in the morning."
"I just wanted to know. Are you?"
"I am... Sleepy. G'night."
"Hey, stop dodging."
"Fine. No, I mean. Kinda. I'm Bi-Curious."
"I thought. Genzo was eyeing you the time we were in Kyoto. And you seemed kinda flirty."
"Yeah, Genzo and I were an off and on thing. A bromance of the ages. What about you, are you gay?"
"I haven't thought about it. I'll sleep with a girl, then I'll tell you."
"You'd best not! What about lil' ol' me?"
"I won't, don't worry."
"That's good. Can I sleep now?"
"Maybe."
"Tania, you have no idea what I'm capable of when it comes to being sleepy. Goodnight."Morning came swiftly, yet my removal from Jesse's body was more difficult than anticipated. So this is love. We had since the previous morning had gotten on our way from the hotel and were headed to Belgium. I snickered at Jesse and I's late night conversation. Midnight questions are always the weirdest things. I rested back on Jesse's chest, his body propped comfortably against the door and seat so he was a giant pillow. He shifted almost unnoticeably.
"Mornin' gaybie." Jesse looked down at me with sleep heavy eyes, a dorky grin on his face.
"Oh, ha ha. You're so funny, Jess." I poked his side. The previous day was resting and learning new things about myself, like how I loved red meat even more than usual and that motion sickness doesn't matter anymore. Also we found out that Maria has a butt-ton of things that take two hours to pack. Hurray. Jesse's arm was under my chest, supporting not only me, but other delicates from the bumpy ride. He gave his signature cocky grin.
"I love you, Tania." I scratched under his chin, his beard tickling the top of my head.
"I love you too, Jesse." I adjusted myself so I was sitting in the seat across the car. Jesse still clung onto my hand. Gabriel opened the sliding window.
"For once I require you two to assist me." Gabriel kept his steely gaze on the road. "Valentine's day is approaching, and I am unable to decide what to get Carmen. I know you may think it is past me, but every year, Carmen and I exchange worldly items. But I am at a loss on what to get her." For once, Gabriel looked uneasy. I checked my phone. It was the 13th. No wonder Gabriel would be stressing.
"Why don't you get her favourite flower?" Gabriel contemplated the idea.
"That sounds... not half bad, Jesse. Puede todavía haber esperanza para usted todavía." Jesse chuckled.
"Gracias, Gabe. Tú y Carmen vivirán su amor por el resto del tiempo." I was genuinely confused. The back and forth Spanish tongue was a bit disorienting.
"So. Ustedes dos han hablado de tener relaciones?" Jesse held his hands up in a halt.
"No es posible! Estamos tomando las cosas lento. Y quiero que esté listo." The Spanish between the two was impeccable, more so surprising from Jesse, seeing as he was American, whereas Gabriel was from Mexico. I pulled on Jesse's sleeve.
"What're you saying?" He kissed my cheek.
"Nothin' Darl. Take a Spanish lesson or two, and you'll know." He winked at me, smirking devilishly. Whatever that boy was thinking, I was pretty sure it wasn't Pg.
"You're not right in the head." I jabbed him in the ribs, eliciting a laugh and cry of agony. I laughed, and I put my arm around Jesse's shoulder.
"Gabe, cuándo yo pregunto a Tania que fuera mi novia?" Gabriel chuckled making a low roll of his tongue in his mouth.
"Cuando es el momento adecuado, Jesse. Pensé que ibas a preguntar 'Cuándo debo le pregunto a casarte conmigo?' Hubiera dicho, aquí, ahora mismo, muchacho." Jesse laughed, twirling my hair in his fingers.
"You dog. Bet you did the same to Carmencita." Jesse rolled his tongue. I interjected. Loudly.
"WHAT IS HAPPENING?!" Jesse and Gabe coincided with laughter. Jesse falling into a hoot.
"Sweetheart, Tania, what language did you take in school?" I was still mind-boggled about what they were speaking.
"French. And a little Japanese, but they nixed the course due to funding issues. A shame though, would have been handy for talking to Genzo and Hanji." Jesse looked impressed.
"Can you say something in French?" I smirked, giggling to myself. I would say something that, in English, would make Jesse regret what he asked.
"Je vais être en mesure d'utiliser cette tirer la langue française sur vous une fois que nous sommes seuls. Pour maintenant, attendez-moi, Jesse." I smirked at him and winked. Flirting was not my forte, but man, did I have confidence when I spoke in French. A slow blush crept up Jesse's face, knowing I had said something dirty. Gabe spoke up.
"You have a very impure mind, Miss Tania. You're not the only one who knows French." I blushed severely, Jesse nervously chuckling.
"Uh, Gabe, mind telling me what she said?" Gabe let out a hearty laugh, one I hadn't heard from him before.
"Let's just say some words have multiple meanings." He and I laughed together, Jesse confused as ever.
