Chapter Nineteen
The boat was rocking back and forth, the waves crashing all around us, and even peeking over the deck. The tropical storm was intensifying. For safety, we all stayed in our rooms, too afraid to go high, and not cocky enough to go low. To scare us, Gabe said the ship was made by the same man who designed the Titanic, so that was a fun experience. We actually knew it wasn't him, as the model was made after 1980, way after the man died. It was around three in the morning when the storm reached its worst. It was thunder every minute, lighting surrounding us in a halo vortex. Jesse was curled up in a ball at my feet, it only being acceptable because he was in his dog form. That German Shepard I was so used to. He started growling in his sleep, a side effect of the storm, I presumed. He started kicking and whimpering, even in the calmer parts of the storm. Around four, I heard scratching at the door. It was loud and constant, but with a Werewolf boyfriend, I assumed he just needed to take a leak. As the storm and the clawing got synchronised in a bout of chaos, it was five in the morning, and I realised Jesse hadn't left, and he was growling at the foot of my bed, pointed at the door. I rubbed my eyes tiredly.
"What's the matter?" I half yawned out. Jesse only kept growling, in a tense fighting stance. "Jesse?" I spoke, but my word was swiftly usurped from my mouth as the cabin door broke off its hinges, nearly pushing Jesse across the room. From the door, two large wolves, similar to an angry Jesse growled, lurching forward. One wolf, a silver one, black streaks of fur coursing through its body, snapped his head towards me, growling at his brother, a signal to get Jesse. I saw Jesse's body shift to his Werewolf form, ready to fight the other wolf, glaring at the brown furred dog. The brown dogged lept at Jesse, the two wrestling on the floor. The white wolf lurched closer as I got ready to fight. This wolf too jumped at me, eliciting a scream from my lips, a protective Jesse bounding on to me, shielding me from the white hostile. Jesse picked me up by my clothes; in his teeth, shoving the wolves out of the way as he ran down the hallway. He sprinted all the way to the deck, the rain soaking us in an instant. The two brothers followed us quickly. Jesse shifted back swiftly, unfortunately with nothing to clothe him. The wolves started to shift, and I realised they were just like Jesse.
"They're..." Jesse stood angrily. The two mimicked him, baring teeth.
"What do you want? The Hell's your deal?" Jesse yelled that them, louder than the thunder that was so deafening to me.
"You'll address us as Blade and Zero." The White haired man spoke, referring to himself as Blade. Jesse only laughed. The two looked similar to their fur. One with brown hair, another with silver.
"So one's a loser, and the other's a crappy Vampire movie! Gotcha. What do you want with us?" Zero snarled.
"We got a memo. And we ain't liking it too much." Zero spoke. "You imprinted on her. That's against the law, you know. If she was human, we wouldn't be here. But she's a Vamp. And you're a traitor. So. Hand her over, and we can forget this." Jesse half grimaced and have snapped at the thought.
"If I may input." I interrupted. "I am not going anywhere." Jesse put a hand on my shoulder, smirking.
"And," Jesse looked cocky, but that meant he had them. "I imprinted on her, meaning you can't harm a hair on her head." The two looked at each other, obviously winded.
"But you... She's... She's a Vampire, Stevens! The Hell you doing with one of them?" Zero looked flustered, while Blade kept his composure.
"He... He's right. We can't harm her." Blade said, half heartedly. Zero, however, glared at him.
"The Hell we won't!" Zero transformed, and lept at me, teeth bared. In an instant, my head hit the ground along with my body, my vision going blurry.
"Tania! Get the Hell of her you son of a b-" Jesse tried pulling Zero off of me, Blade trying to diffuse the altercation with words. But both were to no avail. Zero shoved Jesse away, hard enough that I heard a sickening crack. "God... damn..." I looked into Zero's brown eyes as I heard a succinct slice. I felt burning water roll down my cheeks as I felt my heart slow. It was a euphoric experience, like when Simon first tried to bite me. I saw the scene all around me, my breaths cueing the motions of the men. Blade pulling Zero off of me, Blade's eyes red with anger. Jesse rushing to my side, putting a hot hand on my face. He put his hand on my stomach. He yelled some words, keeping pressure there, for a reason I didn't know. My face was hot, my hands and feet so cold. A moment later, Blade came back, my eyes looking at Zero who was somehow miraculously tied up by the rigger ropes. I felt more cloth than my own shirt on my abdomen. I looked up, seeing a clearing through the clouds. We were in the eye of the storm. It looked like the stories of Heaven I had read about as a child. It seemed like two minutes ago I was sleeping in my room, waiting for this storm to pass. And now here I was, near limp in Jesse's arms, his rare emotions coming forth. His voice yelling some deaf words to me. I barely made out Carmen's figure before my eyes let the world go black.
