It was about the morning when I woke back up. It hadn't been that long since I'd been in a hospital bed, but for some reason it felt comforting and nice. I guess because it was a way of telling me that I was alive and breathing again. When I opened my eyes, I saw clara. I smiled as she shot up from her chair and stared at me.
"Hey clara." She jumped at me and hugged me tightly.
"Never... never do that again... please." I smiled and hugged her back.
"I'm sorry." I said with a small laugh. I stopped laughing once I felt the warm water droplets land on my shoulder. "Clara?" I asked concerned. She let go and looked at me, wiping her face as she cried.
"Dang it Ava I thought I lost you again." She told me, laughing slightly. I started to cry to, but I was still smiling.
"No, you can't get rid of me that easily." Suddenly the door busted open, with tony running in with phil behind him. I guess they heard us both talking. Clara backed up for tony as he wrapped his arms around me. I laughed. "Hi?" I said. He hugged me tighter.
"You cannot ever do that again, or your grounded." I laughed.
"Ok dad." I said sarcastically. When I said that, I meant it as in a way of telling someone their bossy, but that was the wrong person to tell it to since he was adopting me and all, it was a little weird, But he didn't seem phased by it. All he did was smile and hold my shoulders. He stepped back after seeing phil behind him, I smiled at him. He stuttered, but he was able to say something.
"Ava I'm so glad, I just..."
"Shut up and hug me." I said holding my arms out. He sighed and gave in. I have never, in all my time of knowing phil, ever seen him hug someone. So this was a pretty memorable moment. I closed my eyes and embraced his hug, feeling his care for me. But then I opened my eyes to see someone clear their throat. My eyes widened as I let go of phil. Director Fury... I thought. Phil cleared his throat as he backed up from me. Director fury looked to all three of them.
"If I could have a word with ms. merigold..." All three of them left the room quickly, not before clara turned to give me a smile. I smiled back at her, only to suddenly be extremely intimidated by the tall figure standing in front of me. He grabbed the chair next to the bed and pulled it up behind him. He sat down in it as I watched him, being a little afraid. He cleared his throat again and held his hands. "How are you feeling?" He asked me. I hesitantly spoke.
"Well considering I just died and came back... Eh." I said tilting my hand back and forth. He smile and sighed. What's happening? I just got director fury to smile? That's not a thing no one can do that! I told myself.
"Listen ava, I know you've been through alot. But I have a big piece of news for you." I looked up at him and became confused. He sighed again. "When you were a kid, no one thought you had the black death. We thought someone else had it. So we sent him away, your parents were devastated by it, but we had to. Later, we figured out it was you, but your parents couldn't lose anoth-" He stopped himself before he finished his sentence. "So we decided to keep it hidden from you. But now that this is taken care of, you deserve to know. Ava..." My heart sped up. "You have a brother. His name, is Adrien." I flinched at that name, hearing my parents voices in my mind.
"Adrien?" I said quietly. He nodded. I looked down at the ground. "My parents told me..." He furrowed his eyebrows.
"Told you what?" He asked. I looked up at him.
"They told me his name. They didn't say who he was but they told me his name." He looked down at the ground and than looked back at me.
"He's in washington right now, but we're getting him sent over to us." I didn't really know what to say. What was I supposed to say? I just came back from the dead and I just found out about my long lost twin brother! I nodded a little at him as he stood up to walk out. "Oh and ava?" He told me. I looked up at him.
"Director fury, no offense but I think that if you keep giving me more news, my heart might explode." I said breathing heavily. He smiled again, who can get nick to smile more then once? I had some skill for that or something.
"I wanted to tell you that this was a true act of bravery and skill. So we're going to push your rank up." I looked at him questioningly.
"How far is, 'up?'" He stopped for a second.
"You'll be training with agent hill starting in the next few months." My heart dropped out of my chest realizing what he had just said. Maria hill, compared to a trainee, is like a rank 100, with trainees being level 0. Right when nick walked out, clara came back in. She smiled and walked over to me and sat in the chair.
"So... I overheard." I frowned at her.
"We need to do something about your eaves dropping problem." She laughed a little and looked up at my head. I looked at her, becoming concerned.
"What?" I asked. She sighed sadly.
"Has anyone told you about your hair yet?" My heart was officially not in my body anymore.
"What?" I asked nervously. I quickly reached up to my head and felt my fuzz on my head that I called hair.
"Oh my gosh..." Other then the white bandage I touched, my hair was completely cut. Not shaved, but cut. Into a pixie cut. I put my other hand againest my mouth. Clara cringed slightly.
"Are you upset?" She asked anxiously. I sighed. It was just hair, but considering that I just woke up from being dead, I wasn't freaking out to much.
"Nope. I'm ok. It's just hair." I said, trying to calm myself down. She smiled brightly. She hugged me one last time before rubbing my head, touching my hair. Oh well. It's just hair, it'll grow back.
I've survived this long, I mean from what I've learned, spending a day at S.H.I.E.L.D base is anything but ordinary.
