Different Chapter 4

Drew's POV

While I was putting Lexi to bed she asked me to stay with her so I agreed. She fell asleep quickly and I just looked down at her thought, this is my baby girl and there isn't anything I wouldn't do for her and I haven't known her for more than 2 days.

I woke up to a little girl shaking me. "Good morning baby girl." I said kissing her head.

"Hi. I'm hungry!" She whined.

I chuckled and got up pulling her with me. I picked her up and carried her downstairs and into the kitchen. "Do you want cereal? I have lucky charms."

"Okay" She replied happily.

I poured her a bowl and gave it to her. Then I had some Cheerios. Once we were finished eating I told her I had to go shower but she could watch tv and wait. Then we are going clothes and grocery shopping.

I was walking upstairs when I remembered I have to take the dog out. I walked back downstairs and grabbed the dog to take it for a walk. While I was walking Rosie after I told Lexi where I was going, I ran into a gorgeous girl.

"I'm so sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going. That was my fault. I'm so sorry." She said very nervously.

I chuckled and said "It's totally fine and I'm Drew by the way."

"I'm Jessica. And who's this?" She asked referring to Rosie.

"This is my daughters dog Rosie."

Her face dropped a little bit at the mention of having a daughter. "Oh so you have a girlfriend?" She asked.

"No I adopted Lexi a few days ago because I wanted more responsibility and to show people I can take care of not only myself but someone else too. But to answer your question no I'm single."

"That so sweet. Well I have to get going but here's my number. Call me sometime." She said and walked away after handing me a piece of paper with her phone number on it.

I decided the dog had a long enough walk so I brought it back in the house. Then I went upstairs to shower. Once that was done and I was dressed and ready I told Lexi to get ready.

After we were both ready we hopped in the car and drove over to the mall first. Once we had bought a few outfits for Lexi we went to the grocery store to shop. After we were done getting food and things we payed and left.

It's now two o'clock so I decided to paint Lexi's room. "Hey Lex I'm gonna go upstairs and paint your room so you stay here and watch tv okay?"

"Okay!" she replied excitedly.

I went upstairs and started painting the room. I heard the doorbell ring so I ran downstairs and opened the door. I saw it was Jessica but she had dirt all over her and was bleeding on her head.

"What happened? Are you alright? Here come in." I said helping her inside.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know you lived here but um my um dad got angry at me and um yeah." She replied on the verge of years. I sat her on the couch next to Lexi and got the first aid kit.

When I got and came back in Lexi was hugging Jess. Then I remembered what Lexi's dad did to her. I walked over and cleaned the blood off of Jess's head.

"You can shower upstairs and I will give you some clothes that you can wear." I said to her.

She got up and hugged me before saying "thank you so much."

"It's no problem." I replied. "Lexi I'm going to give Jessica some clothes and then finish painting so yell if you need anything. Don't forget to feed the dog."

"Okay daddy!" She replied before running into the kitchen. I lead Jess upstairs and have her some clothes of mine that were a little small.

"You can stay here tonight. My couch is a pullout so you can sleep on that. I would offer you my bed but Lexi sleeps there." I said.

"Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden." she replied and I nodded. "Oh but where are you going to sleep?" she asked.

"Lexi doesn't like sleeping by herself so I usually just sleep with her anyway." I replied.

"Okay." She said. I showed her the shower and went back to painting.

About a half hour later Jess came in and asked if I wanted help. "No but can you keep an eye on Lex for me she should be on the couch?" I asked.

"Of course." She replied, so I continued painting.

Jessica's POV

I went downstairs to find Lexi sitting on the floor playing with Rosie. I sat next to her and she looked up at me. I could tell she had been crying so immediately I asked "What's wrong?"

"I miss my mom. She died when I was 3 because of cancer. I don't miss my dad because he hurt me and I have Drew now but I miss having a mom to help me do my hair or pick out my outfits." She replied.

"I know how you feel. My mom died a few years ago and my dad blamed me for it so he hurt me. If you want a mom, I would be more than willing to be a mother figure for you. If you need help with your hair or clothes just tell your dad and I will be here to help." I said.

"Thank you Jess. Can I call you Jessie?" she asked.

"Yes you can." I said. "Do you want to watch a movie?" I asked.

"Yes can we watch Snow White?" She asked.

"Sure!" I replied.

"Daddy where's Snow White?" Lexi yelled.

"In the bag on the counter sweetheart." Drew yelled back.

We put the movie in and sat on the couch. I wrapped my arm around her and she laid her head on my chest. She fell asleep quickly and I fell asleep shortly after.

Drew's POV

I finished painting and walked downstairs to see both of the girls had fallen asleep. If I didn't wake Lexi up now she wouldn't sleep tonight. I bent down in front of Lexi and Jessica woke up.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you it's just if I don't wake her up now she won't sleep later." I said.

"It's okay but before you do can we talk for a second?" She asked.

"Yeah. Let's go in the kitchen so we don't wake her yet." I said. I grabbed her hand and helped her up and led her into the kitchen.

"When I came down earlier I found Lexi on the floor but she had been crying. I asked her what was wrong and she told me she missed her mom who had died when she was 5 because of cancer. She said she missed having a mother figure and so I offered to be one for her and she said she would like that. I guess I'm just making sure your okay with that." She said.

"Thank you so much. I would absolutely love that. Thank you." I said. "Ummmm I was going to ask you this later but ummmm would you maybe want to go on a date with me sometime?" I asked nervously.
