a new girl joins the team right as everything is falling apart. Will she pull the team together or will they turn her world upside down.
As we walk out of my school and towards the car I pull out my phone to look at the time. It was only 4:55 which meant we had around 4 hours until we had to board the plane for LA. I open the car door and put my seatbelt on before turning over to my mom to ask her a question. "What are we going to do for the next four hours?" I ask curios about what the rest of the day holds for us. "Well I was thinking we could go to the mall for a couple hours and then head to the airport." My mom says back to me as she starts the car. I simply shake my head and put my headphones in my ear and looking out the window like I always do.
About 30 minutes later we arrive at the mall which is nothing compared to the size of the grove in LA. I get my things and hop out of the car with my mom, walking towards the building. Of course the first store we go to is Pacsun and I head straight to the tube tops and mom jeans they had on display. After going back and forth between a white tube top with a rose on the front, and a mustard yellow tube top with white dots I decide on the white tube top. I look around for a couple more minutes and try on clothes before I finally get two outfits that I really like.
We went into a bunch of different stores and just picked up anything we saw that was cute, and by the time it was time to go we each had 7 bags in our arms from different stores. We walked back to the car and loaded all the bags in the truck which was harder than we thought because of the luggage and suitcases we had in the back. "So what do you want to eat?" My mom ask as we step into the car. "I was thinking taco bell." I say back as I put my seatbelt over my body. She nods her head and starts the car, making her way out of the mall parking lot and onto the road.
As always I take out my phone and begin scrolling through instagram and snapchat. I send streaks to my friends and text a couple people back that were wondering why I wasn't staying in Maryland. I go back to instagram and see an account that keeps tagging me in their post, confused about what was happening I tap on the username and when I open the page it immediately brings a smile to my face.
"Katie why are you smiling what happened?" My mom questions me looking over for a split second before putting her eyes back on the road.
"I can't believe this is happening, I actually have a fan!" I say loudly with the biggest smile on my face.
I scroll through the account which already had quite a bit of post about me and my dancing. I like all the post and follow the account with the username "katiezieglers" and I even comment on the most recent picture thanking the person for being so sweet and being my first "fan."
We pull into the taco bell drive through and I get two chicken burritos and a baja blast slushie. My mom pulls up to the second window as the lady hands us our food, as soon as we pull away from the window I begin devouring my food.
After eating and texting a couple of friends we finally arrive to the airport with 40 minutes to spare before it's time to leave. We somehow manage to get all the new clothes we got into our suitcase without anything breaking and we began rolling our luggage through the airport. We put our luggage through the check in and continued walking through security and heading towards our gate.
"Hey mom I'm going to get some snacks for the ride I'll be right back." I say before getting up from the waiting area at our gate and grabbing ten dollars from my carry on bag.
She simply shakes her head and turns back to her phone as I walk towards the snack shop located near our gate. I walk around the small isles of the "store" before grabbing a bag of sour patch kids, airheads, polar ice gum, and two bottles of water. I walk up to the cashier and place my things on the counter for him to scan. As he begins scanning the items I hear my phone buzz in my pocket. I reach for my device as the man continues to scan my items silently and quickly. I open my phone to reveal a text from Maddie with the link to an instagram page, curiously I tap on the link and as the page opens I feel like all the wind has been knocked out of me.
Right in front of my eyes is a post from Kaylees instagram with a picture of me and a short but evil caption attached to it. As I read the caption and look at the comments from the other girls on my team I can't help but let tears fall down my eyes and onto the phone screen. The man at the register clears his throat before asking me if i'm okay.
"Oh yes I'm sorry, here keep the change." I say before handing him the ten dollar bill and grabbing my bags and running back to my gate.
Tears continue to stream down my face and they don't stop even when I'm face to face with my mom in the waiting area. She sees me standing there crying and she immediately gets up and hugs me asking what's wrong. I didn't know how to answer or what to say, I just silently sobbed in her arms as the strangers around us watched the whole thing unfold.
After finally pulling myself together and wiping the tears from my bloodshot eyes, I sit next to my mom and show her the post made by kaylee.
