Nightmare

I was sweating, heavily breathing, I was ready for battle. We've been on this ship for too long, far too long. Guards came around the corner, I quickly shoot them down. Luckily, it was only three so it was easy to do. I finally made it to the cell. I shot the door open, Allura looked over, fearful at first, but then relieved.

"Lance!! How did you get out of your cell!?!" Allura asked, her voice a little strained. I laughed lightly.

"Long story... But, we need to go get the others, we were all put in cells the farthest apart on this ship. Here, take this" I said, handing her the tracker.

"It leads you to each of the cells, let's spilt up, to cover more ground" I said, she looked to me in worry.

"How will you find your way?" She asked, I smirked.

"I've been looking at that thing for about as long as we've been here, I've memorized it by now. And if I haven't, I'll just run to where the farthest closed cell would be, now we need to go before the guards come around. Here, I grabbed each of our bayards, you go that way and down, so take Pidge's and Hunk's, I've got Shiro's. If you run into any guards, take them down as fast as possible, now let's go" I said, she nodded as we quickly split up. I shoot a few guards along the way to Shiro's cell, not too many were guarding. Not enough were guarding. That made me skeptical, so I made sure to be safe, that there weren't any traps around his cell.

But, there were none.

I went to his cell, opening it. I walked in, making sure to check behind me and around me.

"Hey, Shiro. We gotta-" My eyes widen in shock as he turned to me. His eyes were yellow, arm glowing brightly. He growled, grabbing me and slamming me against the wall, I gasped for air form the pain and shock.

"Shiro, it's me, it's Lance! What is going on with you!?!" I asked, a bit pissed off that he'd hurt me. He glared.

"Don't lie to me, I can see right through you. You've come in as Allura, you've come in as Hunk, but last time you came in, you messed up. You came in as Keith, and Keith's dead" Shiro said, I was confused. But painfully reminded of what happened.

"Yes, Keith has been dead for the past eight months now" I said, looking in a bit of shame.

"Why should I believe your the real Lance?" Shiro asked with a growl. I didn't have anything, I was at a loss of words.

"You... I can't give you any reason. Kill me if you must, I deserve it after what happened with Keith-" He slammed me harder against the wall, I winch, hitting my head as well.

"I don't ever want to hear his name come out of your filthy mouth again, monster" Shiro growled out. I looked in a bit of shock.

"You really don't believe it's me..." I whispered. I took a deep shaky breath, thinking about Keith again.

"Alright then, on with it. Kill me then, go after the team when you get out" I said. His arm glowed again.

"Gladly" Shiro said, he suck his hand through my side. My eyes widen, I screamed out. Shiro seemed shocked himself, but snapped out of it. He slammed me to the ground, kicking me. I gasp for air, though it was painful with the wound.

"Come on! You do it every time!! Pitifully cry for your life!!" Shiro yelled at me. I shook my head, tears running down my cheeks.

"I deserve to die for all I've done. Just kill me already" I said, my voice braking. He growled, but punch me in the stomach. He went to pierce his hand through my heart, I close my eyes, waiting for in impact.

Maybe I'll get to see Keith again.

The impact never came. I opened my eyes, there was Cosmo, who had just teleported me to the castle. Kroila, Coran, Romelle, and Hunk were waiting there. They gasped.

"Lance!! What happened!?!" Coran asked, running over, Cosmo teleported back to the ship. I shook my head.

"No, no, take me back! Shiro will kill them!! They've messed with his mind!! He thinks we're someone else trying to trick him!! You can't send anyone else in there!! I have to go back!!" I said. Cosmo appeared, running over to Krolia, Shiro had teleported with him. Shiro himself seemed shock that he was in the castle. Cosmo teleported away.

"I-... What?" Shiro asked in confusion, his eyes slowly went back to normal as he seemed to have to think about what's going on. His eyes widen fully when the yellow glow disappeared, he quickly ran over to me.

"What have I done!?!" Shiro asked, I smiled.

"Nice to have you back, team leader" I said, then winching from the pain. Cosmo teleported back with both Allura and Pidge. They gasped.

"Lance!!" Pidge said, quickly coming over, along with Allura.

"What happened!?!" Allura asked. I smiled.

"Nothing much, but I think I'm bleeding out. Though I'd love to die, I don't think any of you want me to. So, I'd pop me into one of those pods if I were you" I said. Shiro's eyes widen, processing completely.

"Wait... You wanted to die!?!!" Shiro stated, though it seemed more like a question.

"No quiznak, Sherlock" I said, but laughed. They all seemed shocked. Kroila came over, picking me up, she began heading off to the pods.

"I'm not going to lose another loved one, this time I can do something to prevent it, but next time I might not. So, please Lance, never do anything like that again. We can't take another loss, I can't take another loss" Kroila said, choking a bit. I was shocked, this was the strongest person I know, mentally and physically. But she's going to fall apart, because of me?

The realization dawned upon me of what was truly going on.

Keith can wait a bit longer. But right now, my team needs me.

"I'm sorry, I promise I'll never do it again" I said, she smiled.

"Thank you" She said. We made it to the pods, I was put in one, soon falling asleep.

I woke up, feeling... Not so great. I looked around, staring at Kroila for a little longer. I sighed, getting up. I left the house, going to the garden. I felt awkward. But sighed, sitting down. I decided to talk with the flowers. That might help me.
