Finally.
They were back to visit. It's been almost two years since they were last here. The team was excited to go tell Keith how things have been throwout this time.
"Do you think the flower would have died?" Hunk asked. They shrugged.
"I don't know, I mean. It doesn't really matter, it's not like the flower was that important, we could put another" Pidge said.
"God, I've missed Keith so much. I wish he were still here" Shiro said.
"Don't we all" Lance muttered. They landed their ship, getting out the went to walk over to the cliff.
They were shocked by what they found.
Is was a huge garden of those flowers, fences around them, in front of them it had signs, there were three different signs, and small signs by each of the flowers.
Someone walked out of the house, it was a gecko looking person, they spotted them, going wide eyed, frightened.
"Yorak!!!! Yorak, people- people are here!!!" The gecko person screeched in fear, running back into the house. A part galrain looking creature came out. They had their guard up.
"You... Are good. Don, you can come out, they're not going to hurt anyone. They're good" What the guessed was Yorak called out softly. The first Alien, who is now known as Don.
"Did the flowers tell you?" Don asked. Yorak laughed softly.
"Of course" Yorak said. Don came out, right behind Yorak, still nervous.
"Hello visitors. I'm known as Yorak. I am the flower keeper. This is Donovan" Yorak said, they nodded, then taking off their helmets.
"We are team Voltron. We've come to visit a passed away friend, along with a few others" Allura said, Cosmo quickly walked up to Yorak. Then seemed excited. Yorak seemed to whisper to themself.
"Oh um, I apologize for your loss. You all- Vol.. Tron... Um... Please, ex- excuse me" Yorak said, looking confused, they held their head, they walked to one of the fenced in flower gardens, the one by where they planted the flower.
"Um... I'm sorry for them. That's only happened a few times. They've forgotten most of their memories, when the come by they always want to talk to the flowers" Donovan said.
"Talk? To the flowers?" Hunk asked. Donovan nodded.
"Yes, these flowers are actually very rare. They are used to heal others, but so rare that they are used to heal royalty and top soldiers. Some stolen to heal others. No one has ever been able to make another with it's seed, neither bring it back form when it has chosen death. Until, Yorak came along. Yorak watches over the flowers, and names each of them. They talk to them every morning, water them once in the morning, and again at night. When one begins to wither, they talk to them to heal and cheer them up. And they gift them with more seeds to plant. They somehow help them all. They name them after people form their memories, and villagers. Over in that garden, that's their friends they remember that they've made along the way in space, and some from Earth. Over there are villagers. They one they're at no longer have signs for their names, they know them by heart, they're for family and close friends. It's the smallest one. And the first one of the garden. The flowers talk to Yorak a lot. Talking them their needs, or just helping memories, or telling them their joy. Yorak's day is mostly taken up by them. But, they have free time, and go out into the village and buy things, help me out with school, they cook every meal for me. They found out I didn't have a family and took me in. They're very selfless" Donovan said, they were happy to hear that.
"There's something terribly wrong" Yorak said, walking out of the garden. They looked up, remembering there are visitors. They were shocked.
"What do you mean?" Pidge asked. Yorak seemed a bit nervous.
"Nothing, nothing you should be concerned with... It's just that... He's withering and no matter how I help him, he won't heal. He's usually cheered up by me remembering things... But, he's not... I don't want him to pass... He promised me he'd be back..." Yorak said, then perking up, their ears went back.
"Oh... Sorry, I'm rambling aren't I? May I be reminded why you're here?" Yorak asked.
"We wanted to talk to our passed around friend. We placed one of these flowers in honor of them" Allura said. Yorak smiled brightly.
"So you were the ones who planted him. I'm glad to hear that! He would love to hear from you. You may help him heal" Yorak said, muttering the last part.
"Can you go one by one? There's not much room, I apologize for that" Yorak said.
"Of course. Thank you for your hospitality" Coran said. Yorak smiled.
"It is not a problem at all. Oh! Can you stay for dinner? I'll make something nice" Yorak said. Hunk's eyes seemed to sparkle.
"Can I help you?" Hunk asked. Yorak smiled.
"Help is always welcomed. After you all have finished, would any of you like to go into town for the market with me? I'll need to grab more food seeing as there will be a lot of you, and I'll grab something for your little cosmic dog" Yorak said. They smiled.
"Oh, thank you. But I don-"
"Dude, if you say you don't want to be a bother, you're even more welcomed. Just come, you're not changing their mind, they're stubborn" Donovan said. Yorak looked a bit annoyed by this.
"Thank you, Don. Be a bit nicer next time. You should get to your homework now" Yorak said, they chuckled a bit. Donovan went inside shrugging.
"You their mother?" Shiro asked. Yorak blushed.
"I... Um... I don't quite have a grasp on what gender I am. Or what gender is... But, I'm not their parent" Yorak said. They nodded in understanding.
"I apologize for my mistake, you go by they, them?" Shiro asked. Yorak nodded, smiling thankfully, see as a lot of people didn't really understand that. Yorak isn't non binary, but they just don't remember what gender is, and would prefer not to touch into that just yet. There are things more important than gender at the moment.
"I guess we're staying for dinner then. Can I go first?" Pidge asked, they all agreed and she went to talk to Keith. Yorak went inside, welcoming the rest, not wanting to listen in on what they were saying.
