"Susie, could we go to the store and stay home?" I say as I walk back to my room.

"Why? Is something wrong?" She asks from the kitchen.

Bingo. "You could say that." I grab my wallet.

“Humanity's time is limited." I say as I walk into the kitchen.

She's giving me a the fuck does that mean look. "What's going to happen?"

I knew she would ask that. "Basically, zombies fuck shit up."

She looks like she's in both shock and in disbelief.

"From what I know, a virus takes over people and turns them into flesh-eating demons."

She eats her toast. "If that really happened, then how did you survive?" She retorted.

"Good question, but I don't know how I am alive." I lift up my shirt to show her my scar.

"Holy shit! Last time I checked, you didn't have a scar like that." She exclaimed while looking at it.

"I almost died but for some reason, I've been brought back here."

“Could you tell me about the virus?” She asked while grabbing another slice of toast.

“It's like your typical zombie virus, but it has mutations. Zombies are just like your normal zombies, but the mutated infected are really dangerous.” I say as I grab a slice of toast.

“What are the mutations?” She asks while taking a bite.

"There are the Leapers, they have sharp claws and can leap far distances. But their spines are very exposed, so just break the spine or destroy the head. The Lickers use their mutated tongues to grab people and drag them towards their death. You can dodge their tongue and grab it to pull them to you. The Yellers are the megaphones of the apocalypse. They are very malnourished so they can easily be taken out with a bullet to the head. I don't know if this was true, but there might have been an infected called the Berserker. They were incredibly strong and their weaknesses were fire and a 50 cal." I say while I eat my toast.

"How do we survive this apocalypse?" She asked after she sighed. "Because I have no intentions on dying/ leaving you behind."

It's good to know that she won't leave me behind. "First, we need to get food. Stuff that won't expire and clean water. Next, we need to get some durable weapons and sharp objects." Susie pulls the car keys out of her pocket and hands them to me.

"We also need protective padding and camping backpacks." She added.

We walk out to the car and get in. "Yeah, you're right."

I start the car and drive to the store. "Can I ask you something?”

"Sure. What's up?"

"Do you trust me?" I ask.

"Hell yeah. Why wouldn't I trust you?" She says without hesitation.

"Well, I know some reasons. First off, your boyfriend tells you after wake him up, that the world is going to end. Not only that but then, he shows you a huge scar that should've killed him and you know that scar wasn't there before. And now you are going with him to get supplies. So, why do you trust me?"

She grins from ear to ear. "Because I trust you. And I love you so much that I'd go to the ends of the Earth with you. If I had to spend my last days with someone, it would be without a doubt, you."

My heart stops. And for the first time in months, there's a smile and a light blush on my face. "Thank you for loving me and for trusting me. I promise that I will save everyone."

She blushes. “You're welcome." Heh. Still as cute when we first met.

As I park the car, I get a feeling of dread. Just like the feeling that I felt before the apocalypse came.
