As the survivors' car drifts right into a driveway, they are greeted with a new base.
"Whoever chose to let John drive is an idiot." Ryan says before collapsing onto the driveway.
"Hey, I didn't drive that bad!" I say in a moderately loud voice.
"No offense, hun, but you are a shit driver." Susie says as she gets out of the car.
"Anyways, this place is a good area for a base. It's got walls surrounding the property, plenty of land for building and farming, plus I think it has power and water still." I explain while they grab their gear.
"Alright, then let's set up defenses. After that, we could set up our TV and DVD player." Ryan says as he opens the door.
"Hey! Who are you three?!" A woman shouts, she wields a Glock 17.
"Lady, relax! We were just looking for a place to stay!" I shout while putting my hands up.
"How do I know that you three aren't raiders?!" She asks, she doesn't lower her pistol.
"Because if we were raiders, we would have shot you by now! Now, could you let us in?!" I shout again.
"Fine but if you pull anything suspicious, I'll fill you with lead." She responds, we all walk in with our gear.
A man is lying on the couch, coughing occasionally. Next to him is a glass of water and an apple. "My boyfriend here is sick, he needs some fever medicine and I can't leave him on his own. So," She begins to explain before I interrupt.
"You need us to get medicine before you let us in." I say.
She sighs. "Yes, if it's no trouble. Please. I don't think that he'll be able to last any longer." She says.
I take out a small bottle of ibuprofen from my bag and toss it to her. "There's some ibuprofen. Now, could we stick with your group until we get to Baltry?" I ask. She takes out a pill and gives it to her boyfriend.
"Of course, we owe you one. What're your guys' names?" She asks.
"My name is John," I point to Susie. "This is my girlfriend Susie," I point to Ryan. "And this is my friend Ryan. What're your guys' names?" I ask.
"My name is Sam," She points to her boyfriend. "His name is Robert but just call him Rob."
"Great. Now, we should barricade this area so that the horde can't break in." I say as I pull out the nails and chains.
"Close the outside gates. We are going to need some wooden planks." I say.
"We got some in the back." Sam says as she takes a seat next to Rob.
"Alright. Ryan, go get the planks. I'm gonna go outside." I walk out and look around.
Concrete walls surround the perimeter from about 5 yards away. There's enough land to start a basic farm. I think I saw a large shed in the back that could house plenty of supplies. A promising place to have a base. After we train ourselves, maybe we should have Sam and Rob join us. And find out what that cure gas is made out of so we can create more of it.
"Heheheheh! AHHH!" A voice laughs and screams, it sounds like a zombie. How? When I was alive they weren't able to do that.
I hear groans slowly growing louder. "Guys! Horde incoming! Susie and Sam, go protect Rob! Ryan come to me! We gotta clear these guys out!" I yell at the top of my lungs.
"On it!" Ryan shouts from the backyard, planks can be heard dropping on the dirt. I pull out the shotgun from my shoulder.
I walk to the gate and open it. I step out and shut it. "Hey! Braindead! Come get me!" I shout as I ready my shotgun.
A zombie tries to jump onto me and bite, I shove my shotgun barrel into his mouth and fire. "Anyone else!" I yell, the zombies approach. "Good! 'Cause I got a lot more where that came from!" I shout as I start firing shells into the horde. I run out of shells in my shotgun, I sling it over my shoulder and pull my pistol out of its holster. 15 rounds left. I start firing into the horde, taking a head off with each round I fire.
"Hey, John! Step back!" Ryan shouts as he starts to fire into the horde with my AK-47. I reload both my pistol and shotgun. Half the horde is dead and Ryan throws down my AK-47. He takes out the M16 and starts to fire into the remaining zombies.
That special infected grabs a zombie and starts rushing towards Ryan, he has a knife in his hands. I aim at him and his meatshield and start firing into it. Both him and the zombie are dead after four shotgun shells. "Got that weird infected! Let's focus on the remaining zombies!" I shout while aiming back to the zombies.
"Uh, John? The zombies ran away after you killed that infected. Do you know why that is?" Ryan asks while reloading his M16. I walk to that infected's corpse.
It looks like a Leaper but without the claws or missing flesh. In fact, I'd say it looks almost... human? The zombies must be evolving, they probably created a new type of infected. I think that we should call it... the Evolver.
"This guy is a new type of infected, let's call it the Evolver. He seems to be able to lead hordes and summon them, almost as if he was their leader." I say as we start to walk back to the house.
