"Hey mom. How you doing?" Logan asked her mom as she settled herself on the couch near the bed and set her bag on the floor.
"You're probably wondering what I'm doing here at this time. Well I'm supposed to be at school but I got suspended." Logan said then looked up to see if there would be a reaction. There wasn't.
"You're probably wondering why. I hit Jennifer up pretty bad, but she deserved it for calling me an orphan. I'm not an orphan! You're still here and you're going to wake up, right?"
Silence was her response.
"She also kissed Freddie." Logan said hesitantly. "That got me pretty worked up for some reason, and I think he kissed her back."
She took out Freddie's and her notebooks from her bag and started coping down notes. He was making sure that she didn't fall behind on school work. After a while of writing in silence she decided to watch TV instead.
She was trying hard to concentrate on the TV but after a while a tear couldn't help but escape. She quickly wiped it away and sighed.
"I'm so mad you!" She turned to face her mom once more. "It shouldn't have gotten to this point! It was your last day damn it! Why couldn't you have been just a little more careful?"
More tears escaped as she let out her frustration.
"And now you won't even wake up! Its like you don't want to. Why?! Why are you doing this to me mom? You're the strongest person I know! Why aren't you using that strength damn it!" She shouted.
She was sobbing. She hadn't realised it until a nurse a came in and hugged her from behind, pulling her away from her mom's bed where she was tugging at the sheets.
"Shhh it's okay Logan, it's okay." The nurse, Aida, said still holding her.
She didn't like hugs. The only people who hugged her were Georgie and her mom. Freddie would hold her in certain ways but it was never really a hug.
She wanted to squirm out of Aida's hold from habit but instead she sunk into it. She really needed the comfort.
"Is everything okay?" Freddie said showing up at the door with a panicked look. They had come together again but this time he decided to give her privacy and wait outside.
It was the third time he had escorted her this week and today he had even left school early to come with her.
One look at Freddie and suddenly she felt angry. The anger that she let out on Jennifer finally wanted its turn on Freddie. She had ignored it the whole week.
What kind of a friend was he? She couldn't stop him from hooking up with girls but out of all the girls he could get with, why her?
"Call Georgie, I want to go home." She answered him coldly, not even looking at him.
"There's no need for that, I'll drive you."
"No." She said with finality in her voice.
Nurse Aida smiled at her, letting her go and then excusing herself.
"I'll call Georgie." She said before leaving the room."No?" Freddie asked confused.
"No. That's what I said. You can go home. Georgie will pick me up."
"But that's unnecessary Pearson." Freddie protested.
"Nurse Aida is already calling her." She answered putting her notebook back in her bag in an attempt to seem uncaring. She didn't want to look at him.
She knew that the look on his face would be one of confusion. It would make her feel bad for him. She wanted to stay angry. The anger felt good.
"Logan what's going on?" He asked softly moving towards her.
"Just go home Freddie!" She raised her voice slightly and it hurt her to see the shocked look on his face but still she continued. "Just go home! I don't want you to drop me off, anywhere. Just give me some space damn it!"
Freddie looked at her with bewilderment but nodded. He didn't know what was going on but he was going to do what she wanted.
"Okay. I'll go." He said, turning and leaving.
As soon as he was out of sight Logan broke into another round of sobs, quiet ones this time.
She went to her mom's bed and held her hand, putting her head of top of the joined hands.
"Oh mom." She said softly wiping her tears. "I think I love him. What do I do?"
