So I was listening to FKAC's new song Hold Her, and While they probably met to write it in a romantic way, I realized the song could also work as a father daughter thing
In this short story Joel is a single solider dad getting deployed away from his daughter. The rest is pretty obvious.

She was holdin' on so tight
But why do we still have to say goodbye?
She's all alone tonight
There's nothin' I could do to make it right

"Daddy, don't go! I don't want you to leave!" 6 year old Natalie Smallbone cried as she clung on to her fathers leg. Joel Smallbone was getting ready to leave for his last deployment in the Army. He felt so bad that he had to leave his baby girl, but he knew once he was done with this deployment he would have enough money to care for Natalie and have time to look for a job. "I'm so sorry, but I need to leave, love. You'll understand when your older why I'm doing this." Natalie buried her head into his shoulders and started to cry. All too soon, Joel went to the airport and Natalie fell asleep crying.

Is it ever gonna be, ever gonna be brighter?
Is it ever gonna be, ever gonna be easier?

Hold her tonight
Oh, God, would you hold her tonight?
'Cause I'm not there to stay close, keep watch, tell her she's not alone
Hold her tonight
Joel was on his second flight and felt horrible about leaving his daughter. How long would it be till he saw her again? What big life events would he miss? A lose tooth? Another birthday? First day of school? And how would she feel? She was all alone. Well, she was with her aunt, uncle and cousins but he could imagine she would feel quite lonely even with a bunch of other people in the house. He wished he could just hold his arms around her and tell her he loved her. But, even if he couldn't be there, he knew God was. "Please, lord, be with my little girl. Help her to be strong, help her to know that even if I can't be there, you will always be there."

We're apart but not alone
My love for her is more than she could know
A secret place only we can go
And we'll laugh while we will hope until we're home

Joel smiled as he saw the face of his young daughter appear on the computer screen. "Hi daddy!" Natalie squealed when she saw her dad's face. "Hi sweetheart! How are you!" Joel said." "I'm good! Guess what! Mrs.D has her baby! It's a girl and her name is Riley she's sooooo cute!" She giggles. Joel chuckles as he watches his little girl go on about her day. His heart gushes at the sound of her sweet laugh. His love for her was so big. He couldn't wait for the day he could hold her again.
"I miss you daddy." Natalie says. "I miss you too, love." Joel says. "Oh! I was praying last night. I asked God to be with you. Do you ask God to be with me?" She asks. Joel smiled. "Every day."

Steady on, steady on, my love
This shall soon pass
Steady on, steady on, my love
This shall soon pass
Steady on, steady on, my love
This shall soon pass
Steady on, steady on, my love

Natalie had an awesome day at school so far. She and her best friend Stella ate lunch together and she got to erase the board for Mrs.D. However, she got sad when people started talking about the schools father-daughter dance coming up. Her daddy was still far across the ocean. She wished she could be with him. Later that day, she cried to her Aunt Courtney about the whole thing. Courtney then remembered that they had gotten a letter from Joel earlier that day, so she gave it to her.
It read,
My Dearest Natalie,
No words can describe how much I miss you. At this moment I'm writing from a bunker in a far away place, and all I think about is you. I know it can be hard for you, but just know that Jesus is always with you and is watching over you. Whenever you are afraid or lonely or sad, pray and He will make you feel better. I love you so much and I'm praying for you every day. I can't wait to hold you again.
Love, Daddy
Natalie's Uncle Luke took Natalie to the dance along with her cousin Maddy. And she had an amazing time. Even though her dad couldn't be with her she knew he loved her and that her heavenly daddy is always with her!

Hold her tonight
Oh, God, would you hold her tonight?
'Cause I'm not there to stay close, keep watch, tell her again she's not alone
Hold her tonight
Hold her tonight
Oh, God, would you hold her tonight?
'Cause I'm not there to stay close, keep watch, tell her she's not alone
Stay close, keep watch, tell her she's not alone
Hold her tonight

God saw Joel and Natalie, and he was with them both. He was with Natalie when she lost her first tooth. He was with her when she fell down and scraped her knee. He was there when she missed her daddy. He was there when she went to the father daughter dance with her uncle and cousin. And he was there when Joel and Natalie were finally reunited on her 7th birthday. And he  continued to hold them through their lives. He had heard Joel's prayer, and held Natalie through her dad's deployment, and after. Through her elementary years, her tweet years, her teen years, her college years and her adult years, God was always holding her.
