Okoye was the first to find out the shocking news.

King T'Challa was dead.

T'Challa was visiting one of the Wakandan  international outreach centers, when he had collapsed. He died as soon as paramedics arrived.

They still didn't know what happened.

In her years of being a General, Okoye was known for being strong, never breaking. But this shook her core. She shed tears. T'Challa had "died" 3 times now. The first time, the one were they thought he had died but he didn't. Then the snap. But now he had gone to join the ancestors. Okoye couldn't believe this.

And now she had to tell his family.

When Ramonda found out, she collapsed. She could barely believe it. She had lost her son 3 TIMES already! And now he was really gone. She had lost her husband, and now her son. "How?" She cried. "He was so young! He had so much more to do!!?" She prayed that her son was at peace and with his father on the ancestral plain.

Shuri screamed. She cried, screamed, and cried. She ran to her lab, in a state of hysteria.
She began to blame herself.
Maybe, if she had worked harder, done something better, changed something even a little bit, he wouldn't have died. Maybe if she had upgraded her technology even more, he would still be alive.
Much like when her Baba had died,Shuri  spent hours in her lab, crying, and working on every piece of technology she could until her mother came to pull her out.

M'Baku was stunned.
He then got angry.
"YOU LIE!!!" He shouted at Okoye.
But he knew in his heart that T'Challa was really gone.
M'Baku had saved his life once.
But he wasn't able to this time.
He walked to a near by wall and began punching it.

Everett Ross had no words.
T'Challa had saved his life.
But now he was gone.

The other Avengers were all shocked at the news.
It had been 3 years since the deaths of Tony, Nat, and Steve.
They were just getting a hang of it all.
But then this happened.
Out of all the avengers, Bucky was the one who took T'Challa's death the hardest.
While the way they met was not the most pleasant of circumstances, T'Challa realized Bucky was innocent, and had let him stay in Wakanda, and helped him escape from hydra, and help his mind become sane again. He had been so kind and generous to him. Bucky felt forever indebted to him.

But now he was gone.

That evening, everyone in the royal family, as well as Okoye, Ayo, and M'Baku were in the main palace living quarters, preparing T'Challa's funeral.

Everyone, except one.

"Okoye, where is the Queen?"
M'Baku asked.

"I have not see Nakia since I told her the news. She's disappeared." Okoye said sadly.

Ramonda sighed. She knew what it was like to loose a husband.

And T'Challa and Nakia had only been married a year.

"We will go look for her." Ramonda said as she nodded Shuri to follow her.

They looked all around the palace for Nakia.

Eventually, they discovered her in the bathroom that she and T'Challa shared.
On the floor, in the corner, sobbing, mascara running.

"Oh Nakia..." Ramonda said reaching out to comfort her, but paused when she saw that Nakia was holding something in her hand.

A positive pregnancy test.

"Nakia! You're......" Shuri couldn't even finish the words.

"I didn't even get a chance to tell him." Nakia said between sobs.
Ramonda and Shuri hugged her, and the three women cried together.

The funeral was a week later.

It was very somber. Almost nobody spoke.

In addition to the royal family, Everett Ross and the avengers were there, all clearly heartbroken.

As the funeral came to a close, the family came up to his casket to say goodbye.

"Goodbye, my son. I love you l, always will ." Ramonda said as she placed a hand on the casket.

Shuri then walked up. "Goodbye brother. Say hello to Baba for me." She also places her hand the casket, tears falling.

It is then Nakia's turn. She places her hand on her still flat belly,  then gathers her courage and walks to the coffin.

"Oh my love. How I wish I wasn't here right now. If I could trade my life for yours I would do it in a heartbeat. I miss you so much. I wish we had more time." Nakia breathed heavy, then continued.
"But I know I must be strong, for the good of Wakanda. Like you would want me to.
And if this child shares a fraction of your mind, or a fraction of your smile, that would be enough." She placed her head on the casket.
"Good bye, my love. I will see you again, one day."

9 months later, Princess T'Lia Udaku of Wakanda is born. And she did indeed share her father's smile and mind.

As she grew up, everything she did reminded Nakia, Ramonda, and Shuri of T'Challa. Though she never knew her father, she knew every story, and felt like she could feel him somehow.

When T'Lia became Queen (Shuri has been ruling up until this point) she finally did meet her father. In the ancestral plain.

"Baba?" T'Lia cried when she saw the face of the man she had never known.

"Oh, my darling girl." T'Challa said as she embraced T'Lia, who was sobbing.

"Oh, Baba. I wish you were there. I need you. It's like, I was born with a part of me missing."

"I know, my dear. I have hated watching you grow up from afar, with out me. But I know you have become such a kind, strong young woman, and I am so very proud of you. You will make a wonderful queen."

"I love you, Baba."

"I love you too, my princess."
