A Black Panther one-shot.
In which Shuri shares a birthday with her new niece.

Princess Shuri of Wakanda has had many great birthdays, with many great birthday presents. It was hard to pick just one memory to be the best. Maybe it was her 8th birthday, when W'Kabi allowed her and her friends to ride his rhinos (much to the dismay of her mother). Or maybe it was when she turned ten, and she had a party at the swimming hole. That birthday was especially memorable because T'Challa had lost his swimming trunks diving off the diving platform, trying to do a cool move to impress Nakia. The look of pure embarrassment on his face was the only present Shuri needed. Or maybe her 12th birthday, when she had gone on a special camping trip with her Baba to Kenya. It had been the first time she had ever been out of Wakanda. But out of all her birthdays, probably the most memorable was her 14th, when she finally got her own lab, after begging her parents to give her one for years. She sorta stoped celebrating her birthday as she got older, especially after her Baba passed away. They still had a nice family dinner, and some small gifts were given to her, but that was about it. Today was also her birthday, her 19th. However, it would not just be her birthday.
"My princess" Okoye said after she contacted Shuri via Komoyo beads. "What is it, Okoye?" Shuri responded. "It is your sister-in-law, Nakia. She has gone into labor." Shuri immediately stood up. "I will be there immediately."
As she made her way to the birthing facility, she thought back to when she found out her brother was going to be a father.
"What is so important that you called me here from my lab? I was on the verge of a scientific breakthrough!" Shuri complained as she walked into the room where her brother T'Challa and his wife Nakia stood. T'Challa rolled his eyes at his little sister. "Sure you were. Anyway, we have an important announcement to make." Before Shuri could respond, their mother, Ramonda, walked into the room. "Ah, good we are all here!" Nakia smiles. She turns to her husband. "Should I tell them? Or should you tell them?" She asks T'Challa. "Ahh...you can tell them." "But they are your family, you should tell them." "Oh for crying out loud, both of you tell us whatever it is you need to tell us!" Shuri interrupted. T'Challa and Nakia looked at each other and smiled. "We are going to have a baby!" Ramonda immediately screamed. "Oh my goodness! This is the best news I have heard all day! I am so proud of you!" She said as she hugged T'Challa, then Nakia. Shuri smiles widely. "Wow, brother, I had no idea you had it in you." She said, which caused T'Challa to roll his eyes, smiling widely. "But seriously, congratulations!" She said, hugging her brother."
It was going to be so weird to think that her brother was going to be a father! Then again, he always seemed to have this fatherly quality to him. He practically fathered her at times, especially after their Baba passed. Shuri arrived at the birthing facility in record time, and saw her mother siting down in the waiting room.  "So, has the baby come yet?" Shuri asked. "Shuri! You know babies can take a long time to be born! For example, I was in labor with you for 12 hours." Her mother responded. "Yes, and I was worth it, was i not?" Shuri joked. Ramonda laughed. "Yes you were. Happy brithday, my dear Shuri. Your Baba would be very proud of the young woman you have become." She gave her daughter a kiss on the head. "Thank you, mother."
Just 10 minutes after that, a nurse came out of the room. "Queen Mother, Princess Shuri, the new princess has been born." "Already?" Ramonda asked in surprise. "Yes, would you like to see them?" Shuri and her mother went into the room, where T'Challa and Nakia were holding their newborn daughter, their love for her evident in their eyes. "Oh! She is so beautiful! Oh my son I am so happy for you!" Ramonda said, holding back tears. "Thank you mother." T'Challa said, smiling widely. "Yes, she came out much faster than we thought she would." Nakia said. "That's because she wanted to share her birthday with her favorite aunt!" Shuri said, proudly. "Aren't you her only aunt?" T'Challa said. "Oh hush." Shuri replies, laughing. "Shuri, would you like to hold her?" Nakia asked. "Oh of course!" Nakia very carefully gave over her daughter into Shuri's arms. "Oh! She is so precious! Good news, brother. She doesn't look a thing like you!" She joked as T'Challa rolled his eyes.  "Do you have a name for her?" Ramonda asked. "Her name is Qi'ara. Princes Qi'ara Udaku of Wakanda." T'Challa said. Shuri looked down at her niece.
"Hello, Qi'ara, I'm Auntie Shuri! I will teach you everything about science and technology." Little Qi'ara cooed in her arms.
Shuri smiled.
This truly was the best birthday, and the best birthday present, she could ever ask for.
